| THE BIG ONE!: Okuma Makaira Contest!
2010 has seen the introduction of the flagship of Okuma offshore reel design. The all-new two-speed Makaira series, in sizes from MK-10II to MK-80WII are a complete advancement of offshore reel performance. Four principles of design: design, drive, drag and durability guided Okuma’s multi-national design team, including a collaborative effort with Tiburon Engineering specific to the Makaira Dual Force Drag system. The results of the process include numerous new patents in the reel category.
To enter the Okuma Makaira Online Contest, just click the following link and spend 10 minutes of question and answer learning about the forward-thinking Makaira design and construction elements. Enter HERE: http://www.okumapromotions.com/?pid=14&source=outdoorsfirst
THE PRIZE: Because the Makaira is not applicable to musky country, the contest winner will instead receive an Okuma Akena 400 reel matched to an EVx Musky Rod (EVX-C-931-XH-T). MSRP of the combo is north of $200.
Communicating the full story of Makaira development took its’ own 26 page brochure. For a deep understanding of individual design elements, it’s available online at: http://www.okumafishing.com/makaira/
The Makaira series, like the Trio, Serrano, Catalina, and numerous Okuma rod lines, redefines the features, performance attributes and value available to anglers for their dollar. Okuma is committed to enriching the on the water experience, and the Makaira series represents Okuma’s leadership beginning with the most demanding fisheries on earth.
This contest will close Wednesday, July 21, 2010!

Location: Warroad, Mn | Hi! I'm tring out a new bait casting reel from Okuma. They call it the "Iris". Not sure when it'll hit the market, but so far it's very nice. Same size as the 400 Iduron, smaller thumb release, seems very smooth. Been using it for suicks and cranks, very nice. Doug Johnson |
