what kind of performance could I expect from a Ford 150 V8 2WD in terms of towing, shady boat launches, snow , etc.... |

Location: Iowa | The word snow gives me the answer. As far as boat ramps, I've only been on a couple where the 4WD was needed. Sooner or later you'll wish you had the 4X4, but if the price is right for you maybe the 2wd is fine. I've made 2wd trucks do things I didn't think they would do, but sure like the peace of mind of being able to go 4 wheel drive when needed.

Location: Kodiak, AK | I see alot of guys at the ramp with 2WD, but I see more with 4WD. Whether that's because boat owners are more of a 4WD crowd, or whatever. I know I'm glad I have 4WD at the ramp. Especially in the fall when the ramp ices up. It's nice to be able to pull myself up and out. A limited slip in the rear is also very nice to have on icy/snowy ramps. But like Shawn said, there's plenty of guys that make 2WD's do awesome things. And I have seen guys in 2WD carry sand and salt to the ramp if they need the traction. |

| If your boat is lighter like an aluminum 18 ft or less the 2WD is fine except at the worst launches---Towing is no issue just the angle of the launch and again if it might be iced up at all. I have had a 4WD to tow since 2002 and I have only used the 4WD for pulling out of a launch maybe 4-5 times. Mine pulls the boat out no problem just in 2Wd and I never have used the 4WD for actually towing the boat down the road. Bottom line for me would be $$$$$ and condition of the truck. |

| I had been towing a 17ft fiberglass boat with a grand prix the past couple of years. I finally upgraded to an '06 F150 in April and have not had to use the 4WD yet. I've been on an array of different landings too with no issues. Like said, if the price is right it may be worth it. |

| I've seen lots of 2WDs with rear wheel drive have issues with algae, at least where I'm located. This can be a major issue if you fish where there are frequent water level fluctuations. I'd go with FWD or 4WD in this case.
Just something else to consider.

| You will probably get your money back on resale for the 4WD but if you go with a 2WD you will probably really take it on the chin because more demand for the 4WD |
