| Today, guided out on the St. Louis River, fishing was ok. Got about a 40 incher on a cowgirl, and another about 38 inches on a suick, all in cabbage. Also had a fish follow in a River 2 Sea Kong very hot, and went around on a figure 8 but it didn't eat, that fish was about 35 inches or so. My client also lost an upper 30 inch fish on a cowgirl in shallow cabbage again, so the action was pretty good, but no big fish showing themselves.
I was out last week too, and we moved about a half dozen muskies the biggest being about 36 inches. I also talked to a guy at the boat landing doing a creel censes and he said that everybody is catching the same size fish upper 30- low 40 inches.
Good luck,
Tanner Wildes

Location: WI | I'm not sure, I've never heard of that being done there. They just opened some kind of alpine sled deal where you haul %^& down the hill on some kind of track. Looks fun.

we used to sneak over there at night after bar-time and shoot the ski runs on sleds.
I highly recommend trying that, just be sure to avoid the groomer...
Nice fish, Tanner, good to see lots of fish for future. |

Location: WI | There really aren't any good maps unfortunatly. The best ones are the lakemaster map chips. Those fishing map books have some but they're not very in detailed.

| I have been out on the St. Louis multiple times the last couple of weeks, and we have been putting some upper 40's in the boat. I've been finding the bigger fish in deferent water then the smaller ones. The trick is to get away from the community holes were it seems like people are getting the smaller fish. You definitely are not going to see the numbers or get the same amount of action, but the wait is well worth it. I also work for the DNR as a Fisheries Tech, and have been monitoring some of their forage. The biggest hint I can give is they are feeding on 8-11 inch redhorse suckers. |

| I am getting into musky fishing and am looking at fishing the river and I was wondering where to start. I have heard that casting bucktails and shallow crankbaits on the bay, especially by the bay will produce. Any other tips? I was in Mercer WI last week and it was real slow but we had a little action and I now have the "bug". Also if anyone is looking for a fishing buddy, you can count me in! I have been laid off for a while and am trying to make the best of the summer! |

| JKahler, thanks alot for the tips! I am going to try getting out tuesday or wednesday or both. Do the muskies often suspend in the deep water by the channels and loading docks? Is it work throwing on a deep crank and trolling these areas or are they mainly shallow? Also, are there colors that work alot better than others? |

| Thanks again for the tips! I went out the other day and we landed a 43" musky and a 24" musky, the smallest I have ever seen, and lost another in the mid to upper 30's. It was fun! |

| Hey tanner, big fan.. Watched your DVD. Was just curious, what's your usual go-to areas on the St Louis river? I've caught fish in the bay and all the way back last Boy Scout landing. I know that the muskies are throughout the river. But was just wondering if you have any spots that produce better than others for you.. |
