| I am thinking of buying this rod, mainly for throwing double tens and am wondering if someone who owns one can tell me if they have been happy with the rod.
The rod costs $330.00 so I am open to any other suggestions if someone feels there is a better rod out there.

Location: Beaver County, Pennsylvania | i am about to buy the same rod because when i sent a broken premier back that i wanted to upgrade i didnt realize you couldnt just get a more expensive premier. i was told i had to upgrade to legend tournament. oh well....they are holding it for me until i get the extra cheddar.
on a side note, i have heard nothing but amazing things about this rod. after this purchase though, it's going to be tackle industries regardless of how much money i have at my disposal. |

Location: On the X that marks the mucky spot | I have it and like it a lot. I did have to have the handle extended out another 3", but I have most all my rod handles extended. It's fine for 10's but if you're into burning 13's it's a little soft. Then again who the #&* can burn 13's for long anyway... |

Location: Kildeer, IL | adudeuknow, why don't you have St. Croix fix your Premier. Unless your Premier rod is brand new, the upgrade option doesn't make sense because your rod "depreciates" $10 each year. It doesn't take long to make a $99 rod worthless on trade-in. Also, you shouldn't have to upgrade to a Legend. You should be able to upgrade to an Avid. When you upgrade a rod with a 5 year warranty (Premier), you have to upgrade to a rod with a lifetime warranty (Avid or better).
It is only $20 to have them fix any St. Croix rod. I just sent a rod in that I bought in 2000, and it cost $20 for a new reel seat. Their website says that it is $50 for any rod that doesn't have a serial number (which mine didn't), but if you e-mail St. Croix support they will tell you to send it in with a $20 check and they will fix or replace the rod. They even upgraded mine to a Fuji reel seat and gave me new cork (probably because they had to cut the old cork off).

| setme31,They cant upgrade him to an avid cause they dont make avid muskie rods any longer,there discontinued.
As far as the slingblade goes its a great rod,very versatile and multi use stick.Its as close to a do-all off the shelf rod that st.croix makes.
I have two of them a full and split rear grip but prefer the full grip model,it just feels better to me.
You cant go wrong with the slingblade or any of the legend series rods for that matter,great rods great warranty.
You may want to hold off a little while as st.croix is releaseing a 9 foot version of this rod likely around august if 8.6 isnt long enough for ya. |

| I love the rod. It is perfect for throwing big blades and medium size plastics. It is probably the best all around rod. It is a little stiff for the light stuff and a little soft for the heavy stuff. So, that makes it perfect in my book.
I actually shortened my handle by one inch. I am only 5'6" and the handle was a little too long.
If there is a similar rod out there that is cheaper, please let me know. I am looking for one too.

Location: Beaver County, Pennsylvania | the premier i returned is a older one. i don't want the replace that exact rod. i wanted to upgrade to a better and longer premier but was told that is out of the question. the rod i returned gave me $100 credit. just $230 more and i have myself a slingblade....lol |

| I've had a slingblade for two seasons and really like it. I went with the split grip, and like it, as you get better more consistent casts. Loads nice, nice balance of backbone and flex in the tip. Can't go wrong with a legend.

Location: New Jersey | i had one and sold it. It is a great rod, dont get me wrong, but for me it was actually a little too heavy for twin tens. I liked it much better as a crankbait rod.
Its all a matter of preference, i only use croix but have gone to the predator made my thornes.

| I've got 2 the regular grip and the orginal cork grip. The one has a calcutta te 400 on it and the other one has a trinidad16n on it. They are great rods and are flat out awesome for blades. If you plan to use it exclusively for blades go with the 16n it will make your life a whole lot easier. It will let you slow roll or flat out burn them as well as handle 13's you won't be dissapointed |

| I just ordered a custom Thorne's Slingblade, for what it's worth. But I was torn and was also looking at Musky Mayhem's Avaio light rod (they offer two different rods). I was able to use several rods, narrowed it dowm to two, and finally pulled the trigger. Friends, brand reputation, retailer reputation and warranty specifications convinced me to go Slingblade. If cost is an issue, look to the Avaio. |

Best rod i have ever bought, i throw all my buck tails with it and also throw my smaller bull dogs with it. If you do end up getting it i would suggest getting the split grip. I have the full grip on my Legend Tournament in a 7'6" lip stick and i honestly wish it was the split grip. When working the rod its a lot easier on your arm pit compared to the full grip. Thats my two sense for you. |
