Jasons post on a fishing watch that will do everything but set the hook got me thinking...why not have a weekend fishing experience w/ NONE of the modern conveniences....turn off your electronics...use a paddle rather than your trolling motor....carry your lunch in a paper sack...use the oldest baits in your box...carry a pistol...forget that one, (half of you would end up in jail)...take some binos for bird identification...don't shave for a week...wear a wool baseball cap + hi-top converse sneakers..think you could do it? It would be hard no doubt, but what better way to honor the fishermen of yesteryear![:sun:]

Sponge,

I did a "throw-back" day on the water 2 years ago with my uncle on Lake Butte des Morts. This used to be a great musky fishery back in the 50-60's. My family lived on the lake, in the house my uncle now owns, and my dad and uncle caught some really nice fish back then. CPR was not invented then, so most(all) were bopped or shot. Not many survived, but I hear they are making a comeback.

We fished a half day, with old pool sticks, reels with old style line(Dacron, I think), and some of his old baits. He's got a bunch of neat old lures, and has a Heddin's, still in the box, from about 1950! He also has some really great looking Suicks, with lotsa teeth marks! I wonder how they caught any fish with those old reels and line back then. It was a cool experience, and a great day on the water with my uncle.

Tight Lines,

Shep[:sun:]

It is a good idea. I tried it once. It took me months to find a trailer hitch attachment to fit a horse. I got the horse to back up fine at the landing, but when I was in the boat backing it off the trailer someone blew an air horn which spooked the horse. It was days before we found the trailer.....never did find the horse![:blackeye:]
