| The only difference is the width of the two, diameters, gears, etc are all the same. |

| And is there a differance in quality of components between the toro and the toro winch? or is it just the gearratio that is different?
If there is no dif in quality components i think the best allrounder is the normal toro then.

| There is no quality difference between the Toro and the Toro Winch. The only difference is the gear ratio. Mark, I agree with you that the best all around Toro is the regular 5.4 to 1 gear ratio but there are a lot of applications that the Winch is perfect for. There are also times that the high speed 6.4 gear ratio is wanted. The only easy answer is to buy one of each! |

I tried to order order a 61 (a true right handed reel ) with 5.4:1 gears through Dorn's @ Midvale and the Abu Rep said it was not in his book. I emailed Abu and they can't explain why the Rep said that because they make them. I'm not sure what's going on? |

I know I can see that on their web site. I am confused about the whole thing. Maybe the Rep has an old book???? |

I believe there are differences in older model Toro's and newer ones...something to do with the serial # or something like that which identifies the two. If memory serves me correctly, the newer ones had something changed on them and they reflect this change by something in the serial number. Perhaps reelman can better explain.
This may be the reason for the huge price difference. $280 compared to $150. I'd be asking questions, but that's just me.

Hehehe...if the link provided in KJGMH's post is the one where you guys got it for $150, looks like you got a heck of a deal. That link now shows it at $280.00 |
