Location: Kodiak, AK | So I filled up my first custom box from Bob. I had it made for the area just forward of my center console, between it and the front deck. It acts as a deck extension and works well. I wanted to do an angled box like Mr. Dahlberg has, but getting the exact measurements proved to be undoable. So I had Bob make me another box for the back of my boat. And true to Bob's form, he was anal about every aspect, put up with my pestering and emails and put forth his own ideas and made me a box that I could not possibly be happier with! This thing is screwed to the floor, so it's not going anywhere, and the compartments are huge. I can fit two pounders or four 10" Jakes in a slot and the storage is awesome. I've dealt with Bob twice now and service is #1 with him and I just wish I had more room to put another box so I could work with him on a third one, but the boat is full now, thanks to Bob and his awesome work.
The dog is a bit upset as he now has less room to mess around in the back, but he'll get over it.
Thanks Bob!!!! I can now carry 1/4 of my baits instead of 1/8!

| I hate to be a Downer Deb, but I gotta ask.....don't your baits melt in there from the "Dutch Oven" effect? I think the see-thru design is really cool, it just seems like on a 90 degree day that things would get to the extreme range of toasty in there. I mean, even if there's ventilation of some sort.....just like when you crack the windows on your car, its still 130 degrees in there and your seat is blistering hot, crack or no crack.
Just curious. Nice box. |

No. The lures actually stay cooler in the Just Encase than they do in my black fabric box. I know the material resists UV, that may be why. Bob? |

Location: Not Where I Want To Be | Very Nice fly, I'm looking forward to my 2nd one arriving that Bob is building me as we speak, It's built on rollers instead of feet for easy storage under my rear casting deck.
I'll post pics as soon as i get it. |

| My first one is being built as we speak as well!! I have a front deck on the boat which would've been a just encase box but I learned about them too late so he's getting me one to fit under it with rollers on one side and feet on the other so it doesn't roll when going up on plane. I'm super excited to get it!!! |

I would think more would have to do that an all clear window is much different than a car or dark colored tackle box. Your car absorbs the heat with the color of the car and the color of the upholstery in the vehicle. If the justencase box is semi ventilated the baits wont get much hotter than the ambient temperature as the clear box wont absorb much heat. |

| now you just have to make a cover for it or the sun will discolor all your lures clear coats. happened to a buddy of mine. over $3,000 wasted b/c of clear tackle box. don't say i didn't warn you! heat isn't the problem, uv rays are! until they make a uv protected lexan tackle box, they can keep their product.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I believe I said the Just Encase was UV inhibited. I've had one for over a season and a half with no fading of lures at all, and it's outside in the sun all day every day for weeks at a time.
I wish folks would read before making rude statements. |

| Yes for sure the Boxes are UV proof with NO fading of baits at all..... lets see 2nd post here and you are ripping a well made first class product....with the wrong info as well.
This is the same material they use in the laminations for bulletproof glass, tough, clear...and UV resistant

Location: Excelsior, MN | According to the technical support from the manufacturer Sheffield Plastics, the polycarbonate (Makrolon) is UV stabilized and actually blocks the UV Rays from entering the box. The UV rays reside in the 0-385 nanometer light spectrum. I have a chart provided by the manufacturer of the polycarbonate (in PDF format) at my website that show this - www.justencase.com
Just because it is clear like glass, it doesn't perform like glass. Ordinary clear window glass lets in about 70% of the sun's UV radiation. By the way, the polycarbonate is also 200X stronger than ordinary glass and 30X stronger than plexiglass (acrylic)
I provide a bottle of Novus #1 with each box. Use it once a year on the outside and you will be good indefinitely according to the technical support at Novus. The polycarbonate, as it is without polishing, is guaranteed for 5 years.
Regarding the heat inside the box, I have personally tested the ClearView boxes in the heat of summer on dead still days to see what the inside temp is compared to the outside. I never had more than a 10-15 degree difference with the boxes standing still for hours in direct sun. Obviously, in most cases they will be in a boat that will be moving from spot to spot or at least moving using the trolling motor and the vent holes in the bottom facilitate air circulation.
Thanks. Bob Schmitt [email protected]

| That thing is pretty freakin sweet!! Bob, just made me a custom 12" x 12" x 14" pedistal box, that doubles as a jump box!! That thing is AWESOME!! This was my first time working with Bob, and he came through with flying colors. I've been dreaming of a sweet pedistal box, and Bob worked his magic, and made my dream come true!!

| Thanks!! I'd been looking for a nice pedistal box for a while, but I wasn't finding what I wanted. So I called Bob, and told him about my concept of the dual purpose pedistal/jump box and wala!! Now I can't wait to get my 28" x 14" x 14" fully adjustable box, so I can pass my muskie maximizer off to my brother. |

Do you not get along very well with your brother? I'm curious as to why you would give him such a crappy tackle box! LOL
My maximizer is in the back of a closet holding a bunch of baits I don't use anymore. I would never try to give it to someone that was a friend of mine! HA!
Just Encase Tackle boxes are simply the best. I've bought 8 boxes from Bob. The 8th was a gift to a mentor of mine.
Friends don't let friends use crappy tackle boxes!!

| This is not a knock on the box in any way, but just for the record...UV inhibitors that make plastics that contain them resistant to UV rays are there to protect the plastic from being degraded by sunlight--not to keep the contents of the box cooler which I doubt that they do. It's still a great thing to have in there because it will protect your investment and the guy who bought the plastic paid extra for it. And, oh yea, naturally the black fabric will absorb more heat than a lighter one on the other box mentioned above just like wearing a black shirt in the sun will get you hotter than a white one. Of course that's not really important because a blue one will catch you more figure-eight fish on a blue sky day. Marty Forman |

No, thats not the case at all, I just figured I'd save him some money!! It's a good box for a beginner, I just out grew it. |
