I put a rather nasty gouge in my keel this week, and have a few scrathces here and there I would like to get fixed. Anybody know of a reputible fiberglass repair shop in Iowa? Or perhaps the Twin Cities area? The Tuffy plant is a pretty good haul from here, and would rather do it locally if possible.

Mike- You might try a shop that repairs Semi-tractors, a lot of Semi's have fiberglass parts- fenders, spoilers, etc. so they usually do pretty professinal job. Second choice would be body shop that does Corvette's - of course they are probably pretty expensive.

How deep is the gouge? Scratches you can usually live with untill the off-season. Gouge's that go through the gell coat need to be fixed ASAP to prevent water infiltration between the gell coat & the glass. When that happens you can get blistering/bubbles - not good.

Good luck!

Just google fiberglass repair in the area in which you live, there should be several body shops that can handle a simple repair like that one.

Mike- I'd seal it w/ some 5 minute epoxy. The repair shop can always remove the epoxy and fix it permanently.

Good luck!
