Put this 51.5 in the bag tonight in the Bemidji area, should have had another one same size or larger that was on a bait for a full cast, mouth open closed open closed open closed but nothing I could do would get it to make the last chomp, back hooks tickling its nose the whole way! Hey, I'll take the one for sure! Topwater and real shallow, fish was in great shape, no marks or spawning bangup, and actually quite porky for this early in June! Going to get some more in just a few hours, lol!!

Thx to Aaron Templin who was coming by me, flagged him down and had some quick help for a measure and photo's, thx Aaron!

We thought it was a pretty tough opener. Saturday the temps dropped to the lower 60's with showers and thundershowers during the day and into the night. Sunday we moved to a different lake and my buddy caught about a 33 incher. We went back to the same lake on Monday and with about 20 minutes before we were to leave for home I stuck this 50.75 inch fish. Needless to say it made the trip.

That's a beauty. And is it just me or are a lot of these "early season" fish already looking pretty stout?
