i have a pre 2001 rod. in fact, it's prolly from the mid 90's. it cracked. does anyone know if there is anything preventing me from using their $50 gold service to have them replace/repair the rod? i saw nothing about anything except for you can't use the upgrade feature for rods dated prior to 2001....any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would personally contact St. Croix if you have not. They have a great customer service, they will be able to assist you in suggestions for what to do. You could even trade the rod and upgrade if you want.

I'd call to St Croix (800-826-7042. When prompted for the extension number, press either 139 or 135. ) and talk to Dan.
