I have a 1999-2000 model Honda 50 hp motor - does this engine have any locking mechanism to keep it from moving during travel?

I use a transom-saver for longer drives but it is a hassle to use for local driving. All the guys with E-Tec tillers seem to be able to keep there motors locked in a certain position.

Thanks!

Hiya,

I'm guessing there has to be a tightening screw somewhere on the motor. If you have your owner's manual, see if you can find something on it in there. sometimes there is a screw/bolt on the midsection of the motor toward the front of midsection that allows you to tighten it up. Sometimes it is under the front cowling...

There should be some way of doing it...and the owner's manual will hopefully have it. If you do not have the owners manual, get your model number from the motor and head to the honda website. you can download it from there.

Steve,

Thanks! Just printed off the page in the "transport" section of the manual that explains how to use the streering friction adjuster. Awesome!
