Time to change the gear for the WI opener now. Looks like I need some worms and hooks. To her it might have felt like a 100 lbs. Good story and congrats to the little girls first fish. Good to see stories like this instead of all the bad on the news.

It's still a cool story... especially when you're just 2-years old.

I'm sure the little girl played a part in it, and if they want to tell and remember the story that way what's the harm.

LLS-
Why do parents lie about the Easter Bunny? I don't know, probably because it's a lot more fun than the truth. One day, if she keeps fishing and learning about fish, the girl will probably realize the biological impossibility of a 30"er weighing 20lbs (according to the formula a 23 1/8" girth) just like the biological impossibility of a bunny rabbit laying chocolate eggs.

Great story, I was pretty excited when I caught my first, a 30"er, and I was 15. I hope she remembers it!

Did someone say the easter bunny is fake? They did say that the grandpa reeled it in not the girl or the mom, but it sounded like she hooked it. Now she can tell her preschool friends that there are "sharks" in Minnesota. Awesome fish story for her to tell her whole life.

Exactly...

I remember being up at my grandpa's cottage and I swear at 5 years old, I caught a "whale"... at least, that was the expression I used as a kid.

Turned out, there are no whales in Van Ettan Lake in Oscoda, MI... but a 32" Northern may as well be the same thing when you're just 5 years old.

Been hooked ever since. Yes, pun intended.

Now I know what I've been doing wrong all these years.
My plan for this year.
1) Barbie pole for the wife
2) Snoopy pole for me
3) Dozen crawlers and bobbers
4) Sit back on lounge chair and enjoy
5) PRICELESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a great example of the value of stocking Muskies. Many people who catch them accidently have the time of their life. I have talked to many people who have caught Muskies accidently and told me all about it. It is something that whole family will never forget and a memory they will always enjoy.

Now, is that what this sport is all about or what?

Dangit... now next winter I'm going to have to figure out how to build fishing rods, because I suddenly *really* want an 8' heavy-action St. Croix blank Snoopy Pole! Hmmm....

Yeah, don't we have expert photo analysis people here? If a Barbie pole is 24" and if you take the angle of the sun and given that Jupiter is crossing the moon...I would say that fish is about 15lbs. /s

Actually, the parents are on a site saying the fish was probably 7 - 10 pounds, just didn't have a scale and wanted to get the ski back in the water. AND, if she wants to think it's 20 lbs, more power to her, that will just foster a new Muskie Girl for the future.

Super cool story,I can only wish my 2 1/2 yr old daughter can experience the same thing this coming season. But why is anybody on this site even bothered that they mentioned 20 lbs. Who gives a rats behind! Its a 2 year old catching a musky!! Way cooler then any of us have accomplished in a long time! To the girth and weight experts on this site, pull your head out of your rearend one of these days!!!!

Hmmmm?
Jealousy?

Time for all of you to go out and get fishing. Fish for something, anything. For crying out loud start your angling therapy. Grab your Barbie pole and get to it, ASAP.
