What's the difference from a cosmetic perspective? How do I know which I one I own..?

Also, do they run any different?

The Larger grandmas come in 9" and 13" and have a narrower profile and no rattles - Larger Jakes are 8",10" and 14" and have rattles and a fatter body. Usually it will say either grandma or Jake on the lip.

jakes run shallower and to me, don't get as erratic. Grandmas run deeper and when twitching/ripping, go deeper and are more erratic. I have better luck on the 9" grandma than the 10" jake. The jakes also have a noticeably larger eye on the front. You can easily fit a snap through it, where the grandmas almost require a split ring. The lip on the grandma where it meets the bait is also squared, and the lip at the bait on the jake is chamfered.

How do you know which one you own? I think the name is on the lip. Check that out. Generally, the Jake is thicker in the body than the Grandma. Jake comes in 6", 8", and 10". Granny comes in 6", 7.5", and 9". I have both 6" and 8" Jakes and like the 6" to cast; and the 8" to troll. I get too many fouls when I try and cast the 8" Jake, but this could be cured by downsizing the hooks. By the way, I downsize the hooks on a 6" Jake to No. 1. It gets better action.
I like the 7.5" Granny to cast. And the 9" Granny to cast or troll. To my eyes the 7.5" runs shallow--an advantage in some situations. The 9" runs much deeper--an advantage in other situations.
Both are good lures.
