.Was wondering if all diawa saltist reels are manual clutch lever engagement?? And if so how do you guys like this compared to an abu 7000 with an auto engagement?

Yes all the saltist are manual engauge but after about 5min you dont even notice it.

I agree it doesnt take long at all to get use to manual engage. I rate the Saltist much higher then the 7000. Saltist makes a great softplastic reel also with its large line pick up.

I use a right handed reel. I forced my self to learn how to cast and thumb the spool with my left hand. IMO it made it much easier to immediately reengage the spool since by right hand was free to do this added task for each cast. Took awhile to get use to casting with the left, but I am really happy I did.

It took me an hour or so to get use to the manual trip lever, and the saltist is a smaller reel to palm. Saltist is my choice!!!

Way better than the 7000 and the revo in my opinion. Great for double tens and dawgs. I have both and the 7000 lasted two months no joke,way heavier.

The Saltist is a great reel for the money. The only downside to this reel is the spring on the cast lever will eventually break as it probably wasn't designed to cast a million times. The upside: Daiwa will send you new springs free of charge and it only takes about 10 minutes to switch 'em out.
