| Twin Valley was packed. Rigs parked on the side of the entry road pack. Not even a follow in 7 hours. Thought I saw one floater that looked like a 'ski, but didn't go investigate. Tough day to be on an electric only lake. Humbling day to say the least. |

Location: Rhinelander, WI | Fished Pewaukee Sat and Sunday. Got two barely legals and a 43" on Sat. Saw a 46" and a 44" boated in the morning. Lost two others. Very few follows. Sunday had a few follows and two strikes that foul hooked and the fish were gone. Not bad for an opener. |

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | Fished Wingra yesterday....it was a windy and muddy mess, haven't ever seen the lake that murky. Caught and saw nothing, talked to no one who did anything either.
And to the dope who was going full throttle across the lake....next time read the signs, or ask yourself why every other boat is crawling along slowly |

| Fished Wingra Sunday
water temps into the 60's, seen one 40 inch fish that was it. |

Location: Contrarian Island | sounds like Wingra is in the funk it was to start the year last season...8 boats fished Tues nite on Waubesa and a small handfull of fish were spotted...need the warm weather we had in April to come back. |

Location: Janesville | I caught a 38 on tuesday night on waubesa and lost 2 more. The blackhawk club also had 8 boats out there and the 38 was the only one caught. I did also see one big one go around on the figure 8. It was to windy and she went under the boat. |

Location: Racine, Wi | Fishing right now seems almost fall like down here. By that I mean, I've noticed more of a window type bite, where you won't see anything for a while, then you'll see a bunch of fish and have a shot at one or two, then nothing again for a few hours. Stick it out because when they turn on, you'll get a shot or two.
Bucktails were working very good for a while with the warmer water temps (that will probably change with this front going through) and they've been eating them very good not just that spring time nip. Minnow baits were also working, and I know of some nice fish around here caught on gliders. It'll be interesting to see what this front does to them. May be time to get the jigs and gliders out and work the areas they've been holding really well. |

Location: Oregon, WI | Was out yesterday on Waubesa from 9:30a - 7:30p. A little windy at first, but that was a good thing. Fish were more active. Got a 34", had 2 others slam the bait without getting a hook in them. After wind died. Had lots of slow lazy follows. |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | From the opener to Friday night fishing was very good. Lots of big girls caught and released this past week. The biggest was a 49 but I have 3 different friends that caught 46, 45 and 44 all on opening day. The 49 was Thursday. Water temps were up to 64 but now back into the 55 to 56 degree range.
The post spawn is almost over and ready or not the fishing will get rocking with the next warm up. Its still a great morning bite till 9am then slows. Usually it will heat up again in the early afternoon. The last few hours for some reason has been slow.
The Pewaukee Classic was Saturday the 8th. The Milwaukee Chapter Muskies Inc event had 25 fish over 30-inches were caught and released. Three people doubled to take the top three places. I lost a good one on a glide bait early in the tournament but couldn't get anymore to eat. Some very respectable fish are on the move but getting them to open their mouths has been hard. Lots of lookers.
I will try and keep up my Pewaukee Lake reports on my website for those who want more Pewaukee Lake info. |

Location: Southeast Wisconsin | After a weird start to the seaosn, the bite is starting to get really good. We have been getting fish all along, but nothing like the last few days. Wed night we boated a 46 and 49 on bucktails fishing in 10-20 FOW around new weeds and baitfish.. Took a break to sleep for a few hours and by 10am on Thursday we had another 49 in the boat.

Made it out today and the bite was a little slow, but we managed to loose a 45+ at the boat and raised one other hugely thick fish pushing 50. Our action came in a very short window this morning and than it was pretty quiet after that..Saw 15+ skis sitting and cruising around in the shallows but they all had that stupid "i wont even eat a 6" live chub" on there face.Stupid fish!
Too bad on both fish today, but thats how it goes and the reason why Im eating leftover ramen noodles instead of steak...WAY too many big fish pull the slip on us..I guess thats what keeps me coming back...Or maybe its the reason why Ill eventually tie an anchor around my foot and go for a swim someday...
On to the next day... |
