Between these two reels, I realize the 5.4:1 is a more versatile/multi purpose reel. Can you still fish Cowgirls with it all day at medium speeds without much fatigue? On the other hand, is the Winch fast enough to be able to bring Cowgirls in at a decent clip? I don't mean burning by any means, but maybe bulging the surface a bit without cranking a million miles per hour.
Looking for a reel that will do quite a bit of double 10 duty, but also do its fair share of other stuff like cranking and ripping crankbaits and such.

I owned a Saltist 30 last year and only used it when I wanted to really burn double tens. I used my 5.4:1 Toro almost all other times and there were some long periods of time up on Vermillion. Get one and put it on a good rod and you are set for most types of fishing.

I like the 5.4 as a general purpose reel and it works good for everything. I use the Winch for DC10's a lot because I actually like to bring them in slow. If you are only getting one I would go with the 5.4.

The 5.4:1 can do any bait, I use a 4.6:1 to slow roll DC10-13 at night, What a power house of a reel. The 6.4:1 I use for WTD baits, it will pickup slack line fast.
