| I am planning on fishing the StCroix a bit this summer via Kayak. I am thinking about dropping in south of Taylors falls and fishing my way down to Afton. Any areas anyone would recommend, not asking for your honey hole just some general areas. Feel free to PM me. |

| i would stay as far north of afton as possible, u start going down that way u will get swamped in a kayak, huge pleasure boat wakes |

Location: Hudson, WI | Agreed, anything south of the Stillwater bridge is not kayak territory at all. But between there and Taylors Falls would be a blast and there are definitely fish to be had. |

| Afton is where my buddies dock is, I guess it wouldn't be a big deal to park or get picked up at Stillwater. I have never fished a river before, where should I look for the fish? |

Location: Hudson, WI | There are fish from Taylor's to Prescott. Find slackwater areas behind current (eddies) with weeds. Flats areas with shad can be very good as well, and get ready for a ton of fishing pressure. |

Location: Eagan, MN | Moltsanti nailed it... in general look for slack water, but since you're fishing your way down that won't always be possible. It doesn't take a huge current break to hold a muskie, and I've caught them right out in the middle as well. If you find a bigger area of slack water don't be afraid to beach your kayak and cast from shore. Just as in fishing lakes more casts = more fish. Also, I like lures that are easy to cast accurately so you can pepper the bank. That's about all I got for you... good luck! |

Location: NW Wisconsin | If you really want secluded, start at the St. Croix near Danbury, WI, which would be north of Taylor Falls. I have never been on that portion of the river but I've seen a big musky pulled out of there and it is not that busy with other boaters.

Location: Hudson, WI | You will have a blast fishing the st. croix for skis! You can find some trophies in there. Last fall a friend of mine pulled out a 50.5 incher. But like others have said, kayaking below stillwater could get pretty rough. My 16 foot alumacraft can barely take some of the waves out there on the weekends. Good luck |

Fish the Croix in a REAL boat........If you want to kayak ,,.... try the New River Gorge in West Virgina.(It's not as wild) ! LOL !
Any where near Hudson, you will experince extreem FEAR in a kayak because of the Large boat traffic.
Use common sense,.... Unless your under 30 yrs old, Then your hopeless.
