Replacing my TM batteries, two 27EV's. Went to Gander today, as I like Interstates, and they had a slew of 27Bs and one 29. I bought the single 29, but held off on buying a 27 because I want another 29, but also because I wanted to make sure it's ok to run a 27B with a 29, should I not be able to locate another 29.

So, are they compatible on the same circuit?

you do not want to mix sizes. when the 27 battery gets low it will drawn down the power on the 29 battery. thus really only have the size 27 to use.

Hiya,

I think in your case, being (I would assume on your rig) you are running a 24 volt trolling motor system, you can run the 27 and the 29 without issue, but you will only have the running time length of what the size 27 will allow. So...given that I would assume you charge your batteries after each use, I don't think it would be a problem....

Hi, Urban legends are rampant about lead-acid batteries. VMS is correct about using different sizes in series (24V or 36V applications). Because it has less power/stored energy available, the smaller battery will limit the amount of run time. However, neither will be damaged.

Connecting different sizes in parallel (12V applications) is not a problem either! They will work fine.

Have fun!

Thanks. I was hoping you'd chime in Steve. I know enough about batteries and circuits to know that I don't know everything and if I can't find a 29 in the area, I wanted to make sure the two mixed sizes would play nicely if I hooked them up and not damage each other. I figured the "weakest link" concept would apply, but it is just as you say Steve in that I never get to the bottom of a charge in a day anyway and charge every night. Thanks.
