I'm having problems with my steering always coming loose
i have a 60 merc with cable steering (older unit '93')
i can never get the system to stay tight where i'm able to let the wheel go without the boat turnin g on me
at the moment i'm able to turn the motor just by lightly touching the motor

i'm tighening the nut where the cable tie's onto the motor
would there be another place for me to adjust??

thanks bob

Hiya,

That is probably due to the steering console not having what they call "no feedback" steering. Our neighbors next door have a mid to late 90's Lund that I have worked and tested for them, and theirs is the same way. It is definitely not a wheel you want to let go of because you will be in circles in a heartbeat. So...I am guessing there is no way to adjust that out (tongue and cheek here) without buying a new steering system, but I could very well be off on that assumption since I have never had to work on a steering system to any great extent.
