Pretty much the same question is on the LOTW Chip thread.

I prefer Navionics because each of their chips are done by regions. So, the North chip includes North Dakota, South Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, and Michigan. I spend quite a bit of time in Wisconsin, Michigan, and have spent at least a week fishing Minnesota the last two years. Having a chip that covers all those states and bodies of water I'm fishing is nice.

Here is the breakdown on the Navionics regions. Lakemaster offers each state individually.

ok thank you. Navionics does sound better because of the larger regions.

It really depends on where you do most of your fishing. I prefer the color scheme and ease of readability of the Navionics hands down, but I fish alot of lakes in WI and MN that are only mapped in high def on the Lakemaster. High def maps, especially on the big expansive waters, are very helpful. The non high def maps aren't typically very accurate and are not quite as helpful, save for an outline of the lake you are on, and somewhere to place waypoints to get a relative idea of where you are/want to be. If the lake/s you fish are mapped in high def on one chip or the other, I'd choose that one(oftentimes the popular lake high def maps are shared).

LIke the color and shading of the Navionics ships. I also have have a MN Lake Master chip as well. Seems like mentioned above some of the lakes in high def are not on one chip but are on the other. I found it best to have both chips. If that's not a option I would give the nod to the Navionics. Each year the chips are improving with more high def lakes, so just check for the list of lakes you fish most and go with that one.
