| I bought a 10" Mojo weagle thinking that I located one of the remaining 8" mojo Weagles. I really like how my 8" Weagle works and I can't decide if I should exchange the 10" mojo weagle for a 8" Suick weagle. I've been looking at past posts regarding Weagles but can't find any differences between the two sizes. Any opinions on keeping the 10" mojo weagle or exchanging for 8" suick Weagle? |

Location: Racine, Wi | Definitely keep it. They'll show preferences for one reason or another at times for both the 8" and the 10". Love 'em both and get lots of fish on both. 10"er for its size is pretty easy to work as well. |

Steve, what differences do you see? |

| Suick is using the exact same stuff that Mojo was using. I talked to them at the show and they are using the same guy to make the blanks and everything. They looked and felt exactly the same (except for the Suick sticker on the belly). |

The 10" model is more of an 'automatic' walk the dog lure, and is not as erratic for me. I use it in rough water and do pretty well with it, and use it when my intent is to move slow but dramatically. Lots of swoosh, not a ton of glide. Nice lure. |

| So Steve, which one do you reach to first for the opener?
8" due to size or 10" so you can work it slower? |

Location: Racine, Wi | I know you're asking Steve, but I've done well on both for the Northern opener. With that being said, we've put more fish in the boat with the 8"er on the opener up there for sure. When I grab a weagle in the early season, it's usually the 8"er over the 10"er, but that's more of a confidence thing for me. The past 2 years, the 8"er has put a bunch of fish in the net for the opener up nort and some really nice ones too. However, the 10"er got bit as well, but not as much as the 8"er for us. Could be that we were throwing more of the 8" though. Who knows. |

| Thanks guys. I did pretty well on the 8" WA all through the season last year, even had a couple 2 fish nights. I just picked up a 10" this winter so don't really know the difference yet. I'll start by throwing my 8" as it is one of my confidence baits.
Actually the fish to the left in my avatar was the first weagle fish I'd ever caught, a fat 41".

What do you guys think of the soft tail Weagle (8.5 inches)?
Is the action the same? Is it worked the same way?
Thanks,

Location: Racine, Wi | The WA 8" weagle has a softer action. Meaning it doesn't have as wide of a swing as the regular weagle. However, even though it doesn't swing as far to the side, it makes up for it by the noise the tail makes. Pretty cool slurping type noise. I tend to work those a tad harder than the regular weagles to get some good noise from the tails.
The 10" WA weagle has a pretty similar action to the regular weagle though, probably due to the larger body size. It has more swing than the 8"WA.
Personally, if it's your first weagle, I'd go with a regular 8"er. Great all around bait that gets bit a TON. |

Well, I guess I'll just have to get one of each!
I've thrown the 8" Weagle before. I really liked the way the bait stayed down in the water. A lot of other WTD baits pop out when worked too hard, and for sure popped out of the water when fish got anywhere near them.
And I told myself all winter that I really didn't need any new baits this season, though I suppose lots of guys tell themselves the same thing.
It's definitely a bug that once one thinks things are under control ... there comes a hankerin' to try something new. Oh well.

Location: APPLETON, WI | I tossed Peter's (WI Skis) 8" Weagle yesterday afternoon and really liked the feel of it... maybe it was the way I was twitching my rod when working the bait, but I really liked the way the head of the bait bobbed up and down in the water as I was walking it in. Really funky kinda rhythm to it...
In other news, I got my 8" Phantom Viper gliding across the water in the typical walk-the-dog death march with the help of Peter and wow. I really love this bait. While you're out picking up an 8" and 10" Weagle... you might as well add an 8" Phantom Viper to your shopping cart. It's got a really cool little gurgle in the back of the bait when you're walking it in... and if you twitch it extra fast, it does a heck of a belly roll, too. |
