| Reading all of the great stuff you guys have for sale made me think of a big mistake I made this winter. I was selling some lures to get cash to buy more toys.
I sold a very rare 1995 Marge bait on eBay for about $140. I shipped it Priority Mail along with about 10 other packages of baits. I bought the postage from the kiosk at my local post office and got delivery confirmation and insurance on the Marge and some of the other more valuable baits.
Several weeks went by and I had got positive feedback on just about everything I sold. Everything was to be delivered in 2 days and I had mailed it several weeks ago, so I tossed the receipt (1st mistake). Then I get an email from "Joe" in Ohio (not his real name) that he never got his Marge. After several weeks of battling with the Post Office I learned the following:
1) Anything purchased from a kiosk can not have a new receipt printed. (The tracking numbers are on the receipt)
2) The post office can not (will not) track your purchase back to your credit card number if purchased from a kiosk
3) Delivery confirmation means they delivered it and it is not binding (YOU NEED TO GET A SIGNATURE ON VALUABLE STUFF)
4) Insurance is no good without a tracking number
So.... after talking to NJ and Ohio Post offices and the mail carrier who delivers to this house (who kind of remembers delivering the odd box) I am out of options. "Joe" calls me periodically to remind me he wants his money back.
Finally, I can't prove that he didn't get it although I believe he did. I'm out of a job, but I send him back the $140. The only solice I have in this whole ordeal is that Marge has so much BAD MOJO associated with it that it will never catch another fish. So if you see a Perch 1995 Marge on eBay, don't buy it because it has too much bad karma.
Moral of the story, 99% of muskie guys are good and honest, but GET A SIGNATURE AND INSURANCE! Good Luck! | |

| Had the same thing happen to me with a couple of tuff shads I sent to a guy in N.J.----I did not use delivery confirmation( I am a Idiot ) he claims not to have recieved them--I know he did--was packaged perfect But they know the rules--If paid by PAYPAL--make sure you use a confirmation and keep all records---cost me $75---I know now how to do it so I can't be swindled by the paypal system again. cost me my 2 great lures but it will never happen again--LESSON LEARNED---sorry for your loss---maybe it is truly lost in the mail and will show up somewhere--but I bet a guy in OHIO has a nice new expensive bait in his collection. | |
