have won their third PMTT Qualifier, a new Pro Musky Tournament Trail record, after registering three legal Musky at the "Southern Shootout" being held on the bountiful waters of KY's Cave Run Lake.
Needing a "kicker" to maintain a very slender lead after day one, the top three Teams seperateded by a mear 6 points and two solos @ in the upper forties, they continued to confidently work a pattern they had put together to combat the cold front that moved through just as the event began and were able to stave off a surging field led by Lejewski/Schroder as time expired this afternoon.
These two multi-species anglers from the Ohio River Valley, both long-time friends of mine, bring a little something different to the table and seldom follow the pack. James and I sorta fished the Club Circuit in OH-KY-IN for a variety of species for about the past 15 or 20 years, as competitors, with James taking Angler of the Year 10 years in a row! (we did tie one season LOL) Russel was once a commercial river fisherman. Yep, freshwater big river, and I swear to you all, he could care less about any accolades... it's fishing to him; pure and simple... he is a fisherman to the bone, heck, both of them are.
