| do to the economy,my fishing buddy and i are thinking about buying the 8' 6" h action rods.can anyone tell us about these rods.we have the st.croix premier rods since we started muskie fishing. have only 1 of them break and it was on a 50 plus incher.only know about tooth tamers only because we seen them in the musky shop magizine. |

Location: north central wisconsin | I concur with John, tough to beat at the price point. The 8'6" comes in 3 models, including the med hvy, hvy, and xhvy. The xhvy is my preferred mag dawg/dbl 10 setup and loads up with the blades quite nicely, and has plenty of flex for fish fighting. That said, the hvy is a great crescent wrench of a rod, for many standard sized Musky lures. |

| thanks for the info. going to the longer rod ,my lund sits a little high in water need the length for figure 8's.my7'6" is about a foot to foot and a half short for my boat.plus everyone says longer cast better and can fight them easier. |

Location: Price County WI | I was lucky enough to get my hands on the proto type 8'6" XH Jawbreaker Jr for some testing last summer. It is a great rod. Lots of backbone and some flex to the tip for throwing big blades. It has a little longer handle then the compitition that I really fell in love with. I threw some mag dawgs with it and it worked ok with those too but it was designed more for the big blade baits. I also like the synthetic handle its soft and it gives a little so my hand dosen't seem to get as sore at the end of a long day fishing. I also used the 8'6" heavy last year, Like Reef Hawg said it's more of a "Crescent Wrench" of rods, it will work well with just about any sized bait. I slow rolled some double 10's with it last season and it worked, not the best rod for 10's IMO but if your looking for more of an all around rod to throw normal sized to big lures that would be a good choice. |
