guys, I really could use some help here. Friday I had a bearing let loose on my Ranger Trail Trailer. It destroyed the spindle on the axle. I have to replace the complete axel and my Ranger dealer is telling me about a 6-8 week wait time for the axel to be made from Ranger. It is a 1996 dual axel trailer for a 690 boat.. I want to start Monday calling Ranger dealers to see if any dealer MIGHT have one in their old inventory. I know it is a long shot but I dont want to wait that long to get it. Could you guys post some Ranger dealers in Wisconsin and Minnesota that I can call. When I google Ranger dealers it keeps bringing up IBOATS. Any help would be appreciated greatly..NOT A GOOD WAY TO START MY SEASON. By the way I just got the boat in January and they were suppose to repack all the bearings. My fault for not checking.

Go here (http://www.rangerboats.com) and in the upper part of the page you can enter your zip code to get a listing of Ranger dealers. If nobody can help, expand your zip code search out and find more dealers. You can use this website (http://zip4.usps.com/zip4/citytown.jsp) to find a zip code for a city.

Another idea would be to call the many trailer sales and repair places in WI and MN. Tom's Trailers in the Sussex WI area (still in business?) and King Trailers in Wausau might be places to call. You would think that a trailer shop would have knowledge of the brand and type of axle on Ranger trailers.

Anotherrrrr idea would be to call a trailer OEM in WI or MN. Chilton trailers in Chilton WI....there's one in Hartford WI but I can't remember their name. Shoreland'r in Iowa.

I guess I have a hard time believing that Ranger uses a custom axle assembly on their trailers.

Hiya,

Depending on what you need, you might be even lucky enough to find the axle you need at Northern Tool. Worth checking out at a minimum...

When the bearing blew on my single axle 690 trailer about a year ago, my spindle was not destroyed, but pretty bad, so I replaced it. Frankies had one at that time

This happened to me a few years ago. Take it somewhere that works on semis, semi trailers, etc... Its's nothing they wouldn't be able to fix. I had mine done in a couple days and $600 bucks later. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, and ever since then I replace my bearings each year.

Uzi, you replace the bearings each year, or just repack them?

Thanks to everybody that responded back. Late yesterday I found a shop that is going to cut the old spindle off and weld a new one on. hopefully have it done by the weekend and then I can reinstall the axle and FISH. I think the hardest thing is the fact that I just got the boat in January, been on it 4 times so far and then being told by Ranger it takes anywhere from 6-8 weeks for a part. Talk about stress

I work at a Chevy dealer here in sw wisconsin and I've got a guy that comes in called the axle surgeon. They will travel to the bad axle and repair it or cut it off and replace it. They cover wisconsin and northern Illinois. If anyone needs them look them up at www.axlesurgeon.com

Call 1-877 FIX AXLE for an axle surgeon in your area. The Axle Surgeon in your area will need inner & outer bearing numbers to find the fit for your trailer. Can do the job on site in 3 hours.
