I would like to encourage club members to get involved in this,
so if you are interested, please post so we can get a tally on how many, so we can get our pools set up.
The rules will be the same as Matchfishing on this site, so read them carefully,
and if you have any questions, call Joe or myself.

I will be using this to post all results from the matches, and would encourage
you guys/gals to use this site to coordinate with the other teams what days work out best for you to fish. That way anyone can view it, and maybe
work something out easier knowing what days to try to be available.

Good luck this season, hopefully see you on the water.

I was at the meeting last night and wasn't sure how to approach this question... but is it possible to be involved if you don't have a boat?

I'd love to participate and possibly be paired up with a "pool" in my area. Not really looking for a set "partner", per se... but I'm just wondering if this question has been brought up before and how it has been addressed?

I live in Oshkosh and the majority of my weekends are pretty free and flexible.

Please feel free to PM me.

Thanks!

yes it is possible to fish this without owning a boat.
guess it depends on how many buddies you have, or,
if you work at coordinating outings with club members,
or really anyone for that matter,
we made it a one man team basically to allow more freedom to do so.

you are your own team, and whoever you fish with for the day,
is helpin your "team", so if you are a good Boat Groupie (for lack of wanting to sound harsh)
you can surely fish in this.

we arent nailing it down to making all your matches happen in a month,
you should have plenty of time in may, june, and july to compete once each month
so to speak, or if you are ambitious, you could get all of your matches done in one month. It is entirely up to you. permitting that we get a good amount of people to try this that is.

Sounds good... thanks!

I'm a newer member to the club (last night was only my 2nd meeting) and I'm hoping enough people log onto the forum here. Unfortunately, I just moved to the area not too long ago and don't know anyone locally that has a boat.

If anyone in the club is able to participate in this (assuming we get enough people) and wouldn't mind sharing a spot on their boat during the matches... can you keep me posted? As always, I am always willing to share the costs of landing fees, cash for gas, etc, etc. If not, I completely understand.

Also, since perhaps not a lot of members log into the MuskieFirst forums - could someone shoot shoot me an e-mail with the club's e-mail distribution list? It may be a better way of contacting members just to get an idea of who is interested, who's on the fence about participating, etc, etc.

Thanks!

My e-mail address is: [email protected]

Well im not certain of the results of Joe and Kyles match, I know SlimeBagger blanked on monday, but never heard anything from Kyle, so I will assume
he did the same.
Its too bad Joe blanked, his item was his dogs shock collar, i told dave to light him up during the picture, still cant get that thought out of my head!
however, slimebagger did somehow catch a cormorant, maybe he will share the story with everyone at the next meeting? surely a nominee for the dead carp award! nothing compared to sinkin your boat, but the season is early

I will be fishing against John Hintze and Tom Rued memorial day weekend,
havent set the exact day yet, but im thinkn im going to need a lil luck on my side,
im expecting good numbers from them.
I may have to make the trip up by them and put some diesel in toms boat?

Team Slime Bagger blanked...Kyle blanked too....but yes we clotheslined a cormorant on a trolling line and the stupid thing tangled in the line, knocked off the board and got a hook in it's foot. It was properly released and no wildlife was harmed during the occurance. Some have said I should have wacked it but I don't roll like that.

Im posting for my wife Sonnet, she fished against Lance H. this past Sat. Sonnet boated a 45" and a 38 1/2" on her matchfishing day and it was her first time on the water this year. A dust pan was the required picture item that you can see in the pics. Congrats to her!

that match was a blank as well, Eric's team had caught 2 undersized fish.
Team Hot sauce wasnt so hot that day
So far the matches are off to a rough start, hoping that things will heat up soon.
I am re-matching John Hintz this weekend while i am fishing our Club outing on Shawano.
For those who did not attend the last meeting, we voted to allow re-matches
since there hasnt been many fish caught, Since this is pretty much all for fun,
a rod, n sum baits, we dont see it as being a big deal,
just allows for some actual winners in these matches instead of a bunch of blankety blank ties.
So far Sonnet is setting the pace, and im sure she's not done yet, way to go!
as for her partner, well, keep up the good net jobs.

heres my fish from my match against John Hintze,
came right away in the morning pretty much, didnt do much the rest of the day.
John had a raw deal with losing 3 good fish, and a broken rod to boot.
thankin my lucky stars, and my pops for a good net job.
fish did everything in its power to stay outta the bag.

Results for Eric Brockman vs. Bill Ahrens this last week.
Erics dad boated a 35 for the win.

things have been slow in the matchfishing dept.
not only for fish being caught during matches, but also for members actually scheduling and fishing. remember all 3 of your matches need to be fished by the end of August.

As for Saturday, Tapatio vs. JJ we had yet another blank.
Now, as for a couple other matches that couldve been won, lost fish,
missed fish, rods breaking, fish swimming outta the net,
John had his fish lost solely because back in April I bet him that
the first fish he hooks this year, he'd lose.
the wager was made for a case of beer.

Well to make this short n sweet, about 9am as he was throwing a mag dawg,
complaining how they dont work, he's never seen a fish on one, blah blah blah,
He gets rocked hard, sets the hook, and whatya know, theres a nice upper 30's
sailing thru the air 5ft above the water. well, bulldawg came flying right back to the boat. and I won myself a case of beer. hehe bittersweet i guess.

JJ didnt pull thru like I thought he would, sounds to me like he slept in and spent most of his day sittin at Gooches. either that or he didnt want to wear a kettle on his head.

Saturday I matched against Don Ladubec.
I did not hear back from him so im unsure what his results were.
we had excellent fishing this weekend, got onto a pretty serious nightbite too.
majority of all the fish at night were mid 30's.
we had 14 in the net this weekend, 10 legal, 4 not so legal.
im Sticking well to my team name Blowfish as i lost 4, 2 of which i dont even want to talk about. lets just say theyd eat what we caught for dinner...

for some odd reason Jomusky has an obsession with us putting things in our mouth for our match pics. Not sure if this is a fetish or not, but its starting to get out of hand when the items are larger and sharp! as you can see, we were "team Hatchet" for the day.

LOL!!!! I gave johnboy a HardHat to wear for his item on saturday
when we left work. Looks like his boys mustve been behind him the whole way for his match!
and.... I borrowed him my hardhead , (he caught a couple fish on it up north)
I wanted to put another 2 coats of clear on it so i could preserve the nice walleye pattern i put on it. but figured, what the heck, a fish or two wont hurt it. well...
7-8 fish hittn it, im gettin a stripped down bait back to redo. atleast it worked out for him.
after seeing the pics, i now have YMCA in my head

Pouchboy....that was your idea to use the hatchet.....I really want someone to use a hot pink bra for an item....even with JJ's mishap. Cindy's pic was close...but I don't think she was wearing it and took it off to have in her mouth. Sure would have been better if Rick had caught one and put it on for the pic....a red racket ball in the mouth would be a good one too....kind of reminds me of a girl I saw at the Frontier many moons ago....hehehe this is fun!

well i think that about wraps up our summer season, i believe we still have 2 pools that didnt register a fish, so like said at the last meeting, we will draw those spots only from teams that actually fished a match. to all the others who didnt even set up a match.... 1 match in 3 months???? cmon.

I got the call from Joe last night, seems he couldnt pull through to put a fish in the boat. 2 days in a row, both days they have 7-8 fish going, and couldnt get the job done. ED did hook into one, but im guessn he shook it off after finding out what the item was.... he had to wear joe's underwear on his head.
i think your team name is now weak sauce!

congrats to everyone that advances on to the playoffs, lets see some fall fatties!

our fall finals are as follows:

we did not draw the 2 other slots due to a vote taken at this months meeting,
everyone thought it was only fair for the actual winners to advance, and no names be drawn to fill the other 2 spots for a full playoff field.
The matches were drawn that night, just so nobody had to fish against Sonnet
on a voluntary basis
the first round will be Sonnet vs. Rick weyenberg and John Falendysz vs. Myself.
the 2 winners will advance to the championship. Winner of that match takes all.

so good luck to those left, the items may only get better from here on out.

Well team Tapatio and i finally got out on sunday for our finals match,
instead of doing a typical match from seperate boats, we decided it would be fun to
have the shootout from the same boat. The only rule we set was you had to net your own fish. which made it really fun! only wish he wouldve been running the camera during the fight instead of running his mouth yelling at the fish to get off!
John had his chances before i caught my fish too, but once i laid on the fish whistle, all it took was a cast to seal the deal.

this weekend Sonnet is fishing against Rick weyenberg for their final. Cant wait to see who i get to fish against for the championship!
good luck to you both.

Craig and I fished our playoff match this past Saturday against Rick and Cindy Weyenberg, we ended up with my super fat 46 1/4" and Craig boated a 41" to finish up the day. Our item was a pink scarf. We're looking forward to fishing the championship match against Kevin Kowalski and whoever he partners up with.
