| Can somebody please let me know some good spring baits and colors for Cave Run. Thanks! My dad and I are coming down there and have never fished the lake before. It's one of the lakes on our bucket list and we have got the fever early this year. |

Location: 15 miles east of Lake Kinkaid | Check out the message board on crash mullin's website as well as tony grant's message board. To echo their words.....rattle traps (rattle baits actually) in the 1.25oz size (called rattlin' shad or kentucky rattlers) produce BY FAR the most fish. The best colors are red head/white body, bourbon, firetiger, orange, charteuse, green, (basically something bright). Besides that hellhounds, sledges, berts, and mantas in bright colors work well. |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | brighter colored lures, and twich baits work pretty good......Rattle baits , for sure.
Reg, and spring Bulldawgs will work at times.

| Just curious, but I know the bass guys rely on traps for jerking through early Spring emergent grass. In fact, in places like Guntersville, there's a few weeks in the early spring where virtually every single angler is throwing red traps. My question is: is this a similar deal at Cave, if it is, how long does it last, and at what water temps, and if it is a grass thing, is it easy to spot the grass on your electronics if you don't know the water? Location: Grayson, Ky | Yea it is kind of a similiar deal at cave run, early in the spring the fish move up shallow over the emerging weeds and on the sand and gravel flats and the ratlle baits are an effective way to get them because the muskies up shallow are gorging on threadfin shad. The rattle baits work in water temps from the 30's to the 60's and probably even warmer than that but I generally dont use them as much once the water gets up into the 60's

Location: Money, PA | Dingy water = Bright, florecsent color patterns. Some good patterns are Candy, Clown, Fire tiger, Florescent Perch, White Lightning, etc....When you go down, be sure to hit Crashs' Landing and ask all your Qs there, He will help you out. Good Luck! |

| was at Tony Grants place 2 weeks ago (great place) and all my muskies came on 1 oz rattletrap in the crawdad color with a dressed rear treble. My buddy had one on a lemonhead hellpuppy and the guide was throwing a weighted sledge that was bright yellow withe black dots. Good luck! |

| I just watched an episode of Muskie Hunter I had on the DVR, featuring Greg Thomas, and Tony Grant. They were trolling those rattle traps.
