| I am in need of a new boat. Well, not a need but a want. I need to get a fish and ski in which most of the time it will be used for musky fishing on inland lakes in wisconsin. Currently have a bass boat but need to be able to pull the occasional skier which my bass boat isn't set up for (going to be sold).
does anyone have a fish and ski or can you recommend something? my fear here is, it will mostly be a fishing boat and i don't want to lose too much of its "fishing" ability because of the "skiing" layout.. See what i am saying? Hoping to stick with a glass boat, and not aluminum. But could be talked into it. Looking to spend about 25k give or take. Hopefully less.

Location: Grand Rapids, MI | I have a Maxum Quantum that works excellent for both fishing and skiing. Livewell, ski storage, plenty of storage front and back, seats 5, big casting decks front and back. The 2 outer back seats remove and can be placed on pedastals on the front and back of the boat. For towing, there is a tripod that has quick connects to mount on the rear deck. The rope then goes over the motor. Not sure if they still make these boats, though. Mine was bought new in '93 and I put a new '94 Mercury on it. The boat had it's fair share of use from 6 kids skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, etc for the first 10yrs of its life. I personally fish more than ski, but that will probably get evened out as my own 3 kids get older.

Location: Indiana | I had a Triton SF19. It was a darn good boat. I was just not happy with the brand of motor i put on it, so I got rid of it. Triton also has a 190FS which looks nice as well. I ended up buying a Ranger 620. IT is on heck of a rig. Fishes great and pulls skiers/tubers/kneeboarder/etc. well. Another one to consider is the Ranger Angler series. My brother in law has one, and it is a great boat. Though I have not skied behind it, I think it would do well.
My advice if you plan on skiing. MAX OUT THE HORSEPOWER! A boat struggling to get on plane for skiing is very frustrating.

| I haven't wakeboarded behind mine yet since I have a buddy with a Tige now. But the wake behind my 619 looks suprisingly decent at wakeboarding speeds (22-25mph). Nice shape and size (for a fishing boat) for wakeboarding. Do yourself a favor whatever you get is put a pylon on that will get over the top of the motor. It is amazing how much easier it is to get up on skies or a board as compared to pulling off the back eyes, when you've got just a bit of elevation on the rope. I'm not saying you need one of the big 8 ft jobbers, but something to clear the motor is a big deal.
I used to use a 94 Sylvan with a 150 Evinrude on it for wakeboarding. I would fill the livewell and throw about 500lbs of sand in it plus a few guys to try and get a bigger wake. Pulled boarders up with a lot of power to spare.
