Hey Guys,
Havent bought one of these in a long time, but am in the market now. I really have no idea about technology for these things and was wondering if anyone has a suggestion for a unit under the price mentioned above including the transducer.
Thanks in advance,
Matt

eagle fishelite 640c or 642c - they are discontinued but are great colour units for the price - some around 400 bucks.

Shop online and you can find a brand new Lowrance HDS-5 (probably with just US base map) for like right at $600. You will not find better or be regretful of the purchase, it will stomp on the Eagles mentioned and allow for a lot more expansion with things like DownScan. Absolutely can't beat this unit for that price. Get one.

I'd second what Thrax said, HDS-5 for sure!

I'm also looking for a GPS/Sonar. Humminbird 788 and 597 are two options. Both Lowrance and Humminbird make great units.
