I booked a trip in July to Separation Lake Lodge. Anyone ever fished this area? Just wondering what I should expect for structure, species etc. Really looking forward to the trip, but I know almost nothing about the body of water.
Any info greatly appreciated !

never fished separation but not too far from there on other english river lakes. very beautiful area. lots of rocks, rock piles and rocky structure, lots of deeper stained water. Lots of big northerns, good walleye fishing and the numbers of muskies is'nt that bad either not high numbers but you will see fish and there big too. Lots of big smallmouth bass and lots of big perch. I've seen quite a few redhorse and suckers but these species I've named are the majority. Some sauger too. I've had my best results fishing the inlets and outlets of the river and points, and islands. Top water works real well ,wtd baits is what I used alot, also had good luck in grassy bays throwing big spinners and twitch baits. hope this helps!

Great! Thanks for the info.

Did you fish exclusively for muskies? Did you throw any big baits, or were you seeing fish with your pike/bass baits ?

leaving in 2 weeks. getting pretty excited!

yah my gramps landed a 48" and several small muskies, no luck for me, seen some big fish, as far as density of fish I am not sure but they are there and little to no pressure on them. I do know that the english river lakes all have them though, we caught alot of big pike some into the 20lb range, my gramps got two 21lb and my grandma a 19 and a 17lb, me and my brothers were all in the 10-15lb range. We havent been back since 03-04 I believe!were going to last summer but my granma passed away, looking forward to a trip up there again!
