I purchased my fish boat last year - an older 1850 Lund Tyee in great shape. However the cover let in too much rain water. I'm thinking it needs a new cover. What are the top brands? Do most people get one custom made, or can you buy one off the shelf that will do the job?

Where is the best place to buy a cover? Any websites recommended?

Any advice is welcome.

Thank you.

I would go with custom made, yes cost more but you get what you pay for .
I have seen guys get the cheep ones from cabelas and then they complain when they get a little rain and it tears up on them.

Where do you start to look for a custom cover?

there is an amish custom cover company not far from us here. 4 layers thick of waterproof canvas and they run about 7 to 800 dollars. WELL WORTH IT because it is guaranteed for life. The amish don't mess around when they build things.

Go to Riggs Brothers in Naperville. The are on North Aurora Rd just past Ogden where is makes a jog south. Should be really close to you. I had them make me one, fits like a glove. They do custom tops for classic cars too, some neat stuff in their shop sometimes. They have done one for each of my last two boats, they fit perfect and last.

"here" that i was talking about was central IL. Arthur is where the custom cover amish guy is at and no he doesn't have a website, you are lucky if he even answers the phone. Just show up with what you want the cover for and he will build it.

Arthur... Is that the name of the town? My boat is being stored in Paris IL, near Tara Haute IN, off of the Tuscola exit off of I57. Thanks for the information.

My dad had a cover made for his crestliner from the amish folks in arthur. It was well made and I liked it alot better than the one crestliner makes, very durable and alot easier to put on.
