Location: S.Wisconsin | I have noticed when trolling at low speeds early and late in the year my alarm will sound after trolling for a while. If i speed up and slow back down it goes off.....30 minn later same thing happens. Does anyone have any ideas for what can cause this.Thanks for the help

| you're overheating - either your impeller is going out or there is some blockage somewhere that's not letting enough cool water through the engine. more than likely it's your impeller though. you might think she's peeing pretty good now but once you get that replaced you'll realize how low your pressure was.
next time mine starts that I'm not going to waste any time getting it replaced, missed a trip last year when it finally quit altogether |

Location: MN | Could be overheating, but funny it's not beeping at high speed and only does it when trolling at low speed. Check your manual, if you have separate oil tank could be low oil pressure, as it is the same warning alarm, just the continuity of the beeps is different (one steady, one is intermittent). That model is probably pre-mix though. Maybe at higher speed the impeller is moving just enough water to cool it? |

Location: Madison, WI | Definitely the impeller. I had the same thing happen when trolling at low speeds as it was not getting enough cool water through the engine. At full throttle it was fine. As with you, it would go off after about 30 minutes or so.
Should be an easy fix, they need to be changed out usually about every 5-6 years, depending on the water quality. |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | I had this problem on a 200V-Max and had the impeller, changed... no luck. then the impeller housing, (Which was scarred from abraision "sand") that helped, a little.... ,Then the next spring,... still the overheating....... Brought it back in and found that the popet (SP?) valuve was semi plugged,, ..Opened that sucker up, and has been fine for over a year...... It might be cheeper to start at the popet valve first.

| yeah it's slightly possible that your system is a little clogged up but i'd still bet my next paycheck it's the impeller.
to answer your question i didn't do my own, just took it in, but it's a pretty cheap and quick fix |
