Good Afternoon,

Just got the call from a buddy inviting me to Chief Lake Lodge on the the flowage June 16th - 21st... just inquiring as to if anyone has any insight for me on the resort and the lake in general... first chance at fishing the famed flowage Since I'm a Mn guy, and am as excited as it gets... any details/opinions/general directions or recommended guides in the area to lower the learning curve would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

GENO

I've been there before. Cabins are close to each other, but not a big deal since you're out on the water most of the time. They have a nice bar and you can get some food there too. Chief Lake is a little different than the rest of the flowage. Most musky guys prefer the east side of the Chip. Still there are some good spots to fish and there are some monsters over there. A spot that always treated me well was the weed edge on the north side of Tyner Lake. Good place to start. As far as guides I am sure you'll hear Ty Sennett a lot. I am not sure if Joe Jascek still guides, but I went a few years ago with him and had a great time. He is an "old timer" and been fishing both sides of the chip forever. We saw some nice muskies with Joe. I know he boated a monster on the east side too. Hope the info helps. PM me if you have any other questions I can help with.

Small bucktails like a Mepps # 5 work well on the Chip in June, Silver & Black, Silver & Green, Silver & white. There is alot of water and it all looks good.

Cant disagree. June also a good time for Cranes/ Slammers/Big Games twitched anywhere there is decent weed growth. Been out on the chip several times w/ Tanner Wildes - great guy and he's always put me on fish. You'll love the Chip.

The chip can be a tough lake if you do not fish it on a regular basis, to getting a guide is a good idea. It is a flowage, so there are stumps, sand bars and rocks to be aware of.

I general, some of the best known lures are original ghosttails (green blade with black hair is perhaps the most popular) A nice topwater like a pacemaker or Lee Lures water chopper in black, and perhaps a nice crank in green perch.

Tanner likes to throw the double 10's also.

When your staying at Chief Lake Lodge, go over to Schultz's Restaurant and Bar one night and order the best Ruben Sandwich in Wisconsin. They are about 3 Miles north just off Chief Lake Rd. They allso make a killer Margarita. O, Yes, Muskies , on the west side it seem's to be find the weed's and youl find the muskies. Taner Lake north side. Fish the Bannana's , Berch, and the Ceder tops if you can find them, Good Lake Marv.

Geno,

You have got a lot of good points so far. Chief is a very nice place, its also a good location because of Pats being next door and Schultz's down the way. A lot of good food and drink options. I will be up coming up for three weeks the day you leave. Our resort is actually located on the north end of Chief Lake - Chippewa Shores. You will see it as you leave Chief and head down Tyner.

Look for good weed growth that has not surfaced yet. You can burn some ghostails over them. Squaw Bay, Sand island, there is a lot of nice spots if you want to stay on the west side!

Good Luck!
