Location: Maplewood, MN | I'm thinking of buying either a new rod or reel. The rod would be a Croix Legend Tourney or the reel a Calcutta 400 TE. Here are my current rigs...
1. 8 ft Croix Premier MH with an Abu 6600C4. My all purpose rod, cranks topwater & small bucktails. 2. 6'10" Loomis Jerk Bait rod with an Abu 6600C4. Exclusively for jerk baits & gliders. 3. 8 ft Shimano Compre H with an Abu 7000iC3. Throws large bucktails and big plastics. All are in good condition. The new Calcutta would replace the 6600C4 on my premier OR the new Legend Tourney would replace the Compre.
The Calcutta would be a nice upgrade and would see a lot of use. The new rod would be either a Slingblade or a Mag Dog and would help to expand the performance over my Compre.
Kinda stuck on this decision. Your thoughts? |

| Get the Rod and the Reel and volunteer for any available overtime between now and the opener. If I had to pick I would go with the longer rod! Then when one of your reels crashes you have no choice but to put a new 400 TE on it!

Location: Minn. | You could also upgrade your 8 ft Croix Premier MH to the Slingblade or a Mag Dog. Using St Croixs trade up policy. You will be dollars ahead toward your 400TE. |

| i agree with muskyfvr. buy one outright or use croix's trade-up program but go straight to the legend big dawg. it's an amazingly versitile stick and once you use it you will wonder how ever got by without it !

Location: Barnesville MN | I second the legend big dawg can't go wrong with that stick. I have 2 of them and a slingblade and I'm always grabbing the big dawgs for the bigger blades etc. Like Stushky said you'll wonder how you got by without it. |

Location: Oshkosh | I agree with getting a Big Dawg as well. I think it is a great rod and also grab for it all the time.

| Thats good info guys. I've got a 8 foot premier rod that never gets used because I hate the fat cork on it. I'll be swaping that for a split grip Big Dog. |

Location: Van Buren, Indiana | Or! Buy a 9' Mike Hulbert rod for general purpose and a Tackle Industries 9' Mega Heavy for the "Big Stuff", and 2 Toro's or Calcutta 400B's and your set! For about the some money (or less) as 1 LT and 1 TE!
