As said above I see Bill Shumway out there a lot and Cat's Tails Lures has a guide service that fishes Namekagon. Heres a link http://www.catstaillures.com/guideservice.shtml

The Shumways guide full time and fish Namakagon on a regular basis... not just part time. If you want get into fish they are the best choice in my opinion. You staying at Lakewoods? Check out Garmish too!

Yeah, we're staying at Garmisch. Any idea if either of the Shumway's would do a partial night fishing adventure? Thanks.

The Shumways' know that lake really well. You can't go wrong there- especially when it's their stomping grounds.

Either of the Shumway boys are terrific. They are a great combination of experience, knowledge, and entertainment with great sense of humor for both.
Namakagon is their normal stomping grounds.

I was at the Garmish a few winters ago and a local guide had a photo album behind the bar I looked at. I wish I could remember his name but I thought his last name may have been Schmitz or Schults or something like that..I'm pretty sure it wasn't one of the Shumways as the guy was younger, early 30s I think from the pics...his photo album from fish from Namekagon was impressive...anyone know who that might have been???

There used to be a younger guy that guided on Namakagon, Top Gun Guide Service, that put some big fish in the net.
Last I heard he had moved to Alaska and was a school teacher.
That is going back a few years.
I saw the same pics Brad is talking about and he definitely had things dialed in.
I have never heard of Brian Long, but I do know Joel Tinker is a fireman in Superior, WI and guides part time in the Hayward area.
The Shumway brothers are at it all of the time and will do you right on Namakagon.

I agree with Josh. You can't go wrong with Brian Long. I've fished with him a couple of times, although not on Namakagon. "Professional" is the first word that comes to mind. And being a third generation guide in the northwoods, he's got some of the classic work ethics that you don't see in a lot of guides. I can tell you that he also spoke very highly of the Shumways.

The guide Brad and Paul are speaking of is Ryan Schmidt. He is originally from my hometown and really did have things dialed in up there. As Paul mentioned, the last I heard Ryan was up in Alaska...teaching I believe. My dad and him had swapped a partial deermount payment for half a day guiding and that's where my passion for musky fishing started. My dad has done many replications for Ryan's clients...and there's been some pretty impressive fish. I know he was coming back for a week or two in the summers but that was probably 3 years ago already. I believe my dad is still in touch with him and if I think of it when I talk to him next I'll ask about him.

I'll tell you one thing, you won't be disappointed with that vacation regardless of who you book, Grant. That lake is Wisconsin's northwoods at their finest. Very fun lake to fish, too.
