What time of the day is best for hitting the slop ? Morning, mid day or evening ?

I like the first hour of daylight early in the morning myself, cool surface water from night cooling brings things to the edge and pocket holes, before sun penetration drives things back deep into the slop. But early in the year when the water temps are still on the cold side,I like Hi Noon or the time when the sun light is at its highest penetration, warming brings out the baitfish and puts the Musky on the feed.Sometimes in water less then 3 feet deep. Also one thing to concider not only the choice of weeds, but look for lively green weeds instead of brown ones.

I like the slop in general in the lower light times except for the dollar pads. I do very well mid day in the pads, the thicker the better.

Hey Larry ,Have you been pulling any muskies out of the weeds at chautauqua lake this year ? I had a lot of luck pounding the weeds last year but this year has me puzzled ? All the weeds seem like a differnt type this year there more of the stringy lure tangling type ! The hartfield bay area weeds have changed a lot this year ? Oh how did the three rivers toury go this year ??

Ferd,
I did not get to fish the Three Rivers Tourney, but I heard they caught 44 + Muskies!I have been doing real well on Chautauqua Lake this year. Most of the Musky that I or my Clients have caught & released have come suspended over open water of 20 to 25 feet in depth, but the fish were near the surface and took 8" Lindy Tiger Tubes in Black with red specks, worked slowly like a jerkbait.I'm leaving this morning for two weeks of fishing on Chautauqua,Finley and Bear Lakes!
Maybe I will see you there, look for my red and white Targa 2000! Capt. Larry
