Where is the best place to get a power handle? If there are other handle options made by other companies I would consider then also.

Thanks,
Rich

Any chance you could just post the info instead of PMing it so the rest of us that would like one could find out the best place to get one, or is that not what the info you had was?

I want a power handle for a Calcutta as well. I would like the best one if possible, because some, while having a larger paddle, don't really make much power difference.

I guess, as I think about it, who makes the best power handle, and how hard would it be to modify it to fit my calcuttas? Maybe I will just have my machine shop make one for me, unless someone has a better idea?

I have gotten mine from either Thorne Bros. or directly from Shimano.

I was just in Thorne Bros today and they told me they were out any Calcutta power handles and Shimano was not going to send any more to the US until late May-early June. Hope this saves a trip for anyone looking.

Hey guys, checked the website above, there are two models listed for 400TE's, any idea what the difference is? I would like to get at least one, maybe two.

Don't quote me on this but the one for the torium also is more round than rectangle. That's what my torium has and if you look closely at the pic there are two different paddles.

I have been doing some research on a power handle for a Calcutta 400 TE and came across this thread. I guess I am a little lost here, but is there a counter balanced power handle made specifically for the 400 TE? If so, does someone have a part number or something that I can reference? I see a lot of people talking about putting other handles on but having to mill them down, etc. I am trying to make this as pain free as possible. Me and power tools....dont mix!

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt

You do know that you can go to the Shimano web site and ask? I did this for another Shimano reel and got a response in a little over a day. They will give you part numbers or tech help there. Try it.

They are not 100% done yet, but a good friend and client of mine are working on a power handle for a few different reels that won't break the bank like the ones for TE's do... I'll keep you posted....

I tried calling to get a power handle be spent too much time on hold. So I'm not doing that. I have a card from Dave's Reel Service and emailed them instead.

So you emailed them on Sunday and didn't get an answer? They must have been in Church or something? They are also on the left coast and are two hours behind us. They probably had their jobs to get caught up on before they can handle any emails sent. Give them some time. Not everyone can sit at a computer to wait for your email.

When I contacted Shimano they said I need BNT3369 for my Cardiff. They told me it would cost < $27.

Sorry Muskie nut, I didn't realize I should have checked with you on how long I should wait for a vendor to respond to an inquiry before trying somewhere else. I still haven't received a response from them. Would you mind letting me know when I can try another angle?

Sort of off the path of the thread here, but still pertains in a way...when calling a business for service and you're holding to talk to someone, hang up and call back and select the menu that asks if you're placing an order. Then when a sales person comes on the line, either have them help you or have them transfer you to the appropriate department. I do this whenever I am holding and waiting to initially talk to someone in customer service. You won't have to hold when they think you're calling to place an order...guaranteed. It's never failed me yet. In fact, I just did this with a company this week. I selected 3 for customer service...on hold waiting for someone to come on the line over 7 minutes...called back 1/2 hour later, same thing, on hold over 11 minutes. Called back immediately and selected the menu that asked if I was placing an order. Someone answered on the first ring!! AND, they were able to help me.
