| That's very sad to hear. My thoughts go out to his family.
I know everyone wants to get out on the water as soon as we can after the long winter, but this is something that should emphasize to all of us the dangers of fishing in cold waters alone. Even with a life preserver or if you are a strong swimmer, you can lose the battle with hypothermia too quickly to get back in the boat, and even if you do manage to get back on board, you can succumb to the cold before you can get back to dry land and warmth. |

| Kirby will be missed. I will remember him for his love of muskie fishing....and his love for his daughters. He truly loved his daughters. My prayers go out to his daughters and his wife.
I have a hard time understanding how someone like Jon could have a problem that takes his life. But it happened, and we need to take caution when fishing alone or with someone especially during cold water conditions.

Location: So. Illinois | Tragic. I am sure his loss will be felt terribly by family, friends and the Pomme chapter. Prayers are with him and his family.

Location: Perryville, MO | Truly a sad event. Again, like many others, I'll keep his family and friends in my prayers. I fish alone 95% when fishing for muskies. Perhaps I'm not the only one who is reminded about the need for safety, maybe that's just a small part of the good that can come from this tragedy. (If we put everything we may need in the boat in cases of emergency, the list could become overwhelming. Just a thought for others among other essentials...matches or a lighter...they're often overlooked for non-smokers. As someone already noted, even if one is lucky and manages to get out of cold water, getting back to the ramp may not be possible. Hypothermia happens fast.) Anyway, God's speed to a fellow angler and God's peace to his loved ones! |

| Had the great fortune to meet Jon a couple of times. What a nice man. I pray that his family may find peace in fact that he will be missed and that he was loved very much by a lot of folks. |
