| I recently bought a 7000iC3 and I have heard some people saying that the reel will engage when you cast. Anyone else had that problem? Is it because of the lever instead of the push button? Or maybe the power handle. Thanks | |

Location: MN | Thrown that reel a bunch, and while I've had it happen, it's not been because of the power handle. I have found the lever can be a little touchy. Seems like more often than not I've depressed the lever thinking the free spool was engaged when it wasn't quite, vs it being engaged and then closing. I think it's amatter of just being a hair off, because the opposite happens as well - you go to depress the lever and it won't. You have to turn the handle a hair and then it will. I don't know if there's a fix for this. Both the ics and ic3 did it when new, just not often enough to make a big deal of it. | |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | It is because of the engagement system. On the bottom of the crank shaft there are 4 return pins instead of 2 like the previous versions of the 7000. The size of the mechanism that disengages the spool from the crank is just large enough to fit in this gap. The push button reels did not have this problem, thus why they are preferred by many including myself. | |
