Location: In a shack in the woods | That's big??? Don't get me wrong, it's a nice looking fish but I wouldn't qualify nj as a big fish state cuz of a 46". I'll be honest I don't know much about nj. There could be big fish just not this one. |

| There are plenty of 50 plus inch fish caught each year from a limited amount of lakes. The clubs there have done a great job and the fishery is super...BR |

Location: branchburg NJ | Bassinbob, i know as much as the next guy a 46 incher is almost average where muskies are native in states like Wisconsin and Minnesota, but in New jersey these fish are stocked and it has taken years for a fishery to evolve where it can produce a sizable catch. That fish is a trophy because of what it represents for the growing population of fish and that the care taken to produce them was worth it. I wasnt trying to make a stink that NJ grows the biggest fish...at least in freshwater that is |

Maybe if 'ya break off the first 6" of your measuring stick.
I'd bet the average muskie is about 38" just about everywhere there are muskies.
Don't let the internet and the magazines go to your head. 46" is a good fish anywhere. I might expect one bigger trolling on Georgian Bay, or the Ottowa River or somewhere like that, but.... If you think 46 is average you are in for either a lifetime of dissapointment or a very short career muskie fishing.

| Beautiful fish. When a nearly 4' fish isn't considered big, I'll start golfing. Anyone who knows me, knows my feeling on the sport started by a couple drunken Scotsmen.LOL. |

Location: Kodiak, AK | Very nice fish. And good to know that if I'm stuck being stationed (nothing agains NJ, but I'm not an East Coast guy) in A. City that there'd at least be some muskie action in the area.
Nice fat fish! That fish would be plenty big to make my day. |

Location: St. Lawrence River | Nice looking ski, looks like it was handled good. Im used to seeing pics of guys grossly mishandling fish where muskies are not commonly found. (held up by gaffs and what not..boga grips). But not this one! |

Location: North Coventry, PA | NJ has some great fisheries..and yes Chapter 22 and the NJ Fish and boat commission has done a great job turning NJ waters into some of the best on the east coast. A chapter 50 member caught this one last year in a local NJ lake.. was 50" but no girth was taken and the picture quality if poor because the camera batteries dies and they only got a short video of it..
I am hoping we can do the same with our waters in PA..We are working hard to achieve what chapter 22 did.

Location: Bemidji, MN | Question for you NJ guys... what year did Hopatcong get muskies? The reason I ask is because I was born and raised in south jersey, but my relatives all came from the Dunellun and Plainfield area. My Grandpa spent many summers on Hopatcong, but I didn't even know NJ had muskies until I moved to MN! My Grandpa never mentioned fishing for them, or even seeing one ever while he was alive. |

| It doesn't take much looking to see that 46" is a darn nice fish anywhere. Take a look through Wisconsin's Fisheries Information Sheets on the WIDNR website sometime and see what percentage of fish go 45"+. All the ones I remember 45"+ 'skis might be 1 in every 50 fish at best. |

Location: branchburg NJ | JNail, ,muskies have been stocked in the last ten years into hopatcong but only recently did they switch over to only pure strain fish and not tigers. If you go to the kneedeepclub.org you can get all the info on stocking and the history of the lake. |

| I have been fishing Muskies three time a week for the last three years in New Jersey. One day I saw a Musky the size of a 55 Buick eat a bably duck. I went back to that spot at 2:00 am and got a explosion on a Top Raider and missed.
I'll be back again this year with my boat and stick with the Double Cowgirl at night for a better chance of a hookup. I'm going good in my boat and I'll be huntind down the Musky Henry and I call Duckie.
