Outside of bucktails, the lure is only as good as the person casting it...I am sure they both work just fine in the right hands...BR

Never fished with a homewrecker but last year finally started casting the weagle after all the hype. Personally, I do like the weagle much better than say a giant jackpot. I picked up a viper topwater from phantom lures which is a similar bait and I'm interested to see the difference with that.
So, I haven't personally used the homewrecker but it's the same idea, I'm sure it catches fish.

Buy 'em all -- you'll need a Weagle, (a Cady, a Mojo and a Suick Weagle) a Doc, a Viper, a Jackpot, a Fish stix, and a Homewrecker. You may also want to buy a few more walk the dog baits like the Super Spook, and some of the lesser known manufacturers as well...

Don't forget to have several colors of each!

That way, when you run into conditions where you feel a walk-the-dog bait would be appropriate you can have 30 choices instead of a few. Your boat partner will thank you for letting him catch all the fish while you were farting around with your head in the tackle box.

If it were me, I'd have a heavier one that can be worked slowly, and a lighter one that can be worked quickly. If I was feeling ambitious, I might have a light and a dark colored one of each style, just in case.

Both great baits...caught plenty on both. Heavy baits with 3 hooks is key for hookups better than many other side to side baits. Biggest smallmouth last year on Homewrecker. Agree its the angler that is key to working these sticks with hooks. Very versatile-search bait worked fast/tight....finesse/throwback for known hotspots or specific fish with erratic/pauses. Every year I learn new tricks and often asking/watching others work 'em is helpful.

they both go "swoosh".

the Homewrecker is machined by Quade overseas.
the Weagle is hand-painted by Suick in Antigo, WI.

'nuff said.

As Lambeau said, they both go "swoosh". I have a Cady, and a big 10" Homewrecker. I think the Homewrecker is actually easier to work, because the Cady sits looooowwww in the water. I haven't given either of them enough water time yet, though. Pros and Cons? Sometimes, you get what you pay for - for example, I've heard of some Homewreckers not running right, rolling over, etc. But they are 1/3 of the price. If you're going to add a walk-the-dog topwater, maybe try the Homewrecker first to see if you like to work a lure that way. Then, you can always add to your arsenal later with some more expensive baits.

I've had two of the 8" homewreckers and a 10". My first 8" didn't work worth a crap and RS exchanged it for me. My next 8" worked good but could be tempermental in certain conditions. The 10" is much bigger in diameter and sets a little higher in the water making it a little easier to use. I only have the 10" now. The HW are ok and seemed to have some consistancy issues for a while. Don't know if that's the case now. I have two 8" Musking Satisfier that I like much more than the HW. Don't own a weagle...yet!

I don't have a homewrecker but from my experience with my weagle it is a bit more tempermental than my Fishstick HD's and my Vipers both of which can be worked in more than a slight chop. All three are great baits and while similar all have different actions and provide different presentations.

The Vipers ride nice and low, are heavier and "snake" through the water. The Fishsticks are similar to a jackpot in that they ride high in the water and get a nice bounce to them.

I have a homewrecker and a weagle, they both work great. The weagle sits lower in the water and throws more also. The homewrecker tends to roll if I use it fast, but if I use it slow n methodical it performs flawlessly. I love both lures and still haven't caught and muskies on them, but keep throwing. I also have a viper, mass maurauder and a few jackpots. What about the DOC? Any opinions on them?
