Slammers - Do they all roll?

With all the positive talk about slammers on the boards, I picked up (6) of the 7 inch model. I have tried tuning these baits, but cant seem to get them tuned where they don't roll. If I work the bait reel slow, it has a nice wide wobble. However, when working faster while casting or trolling they roll. I like the action with a slow retrieve, but it seems like my use will be limited if I can only use with this slow speed.

Can these baits be tuned not to roll? Any help appreciated.

I think I have a similar problem. I just bought a 5 inch slammer and I cannot get it tuned. Now matter how much I move the eye around it always runs to my left.

I fished a Slammer or Slammer Deep Diver all afternoon fishing deep water for suspended fish. Used three models, and none of them rolled. I use a 7 strand 60# leader, maybe that is part of the equasion.

Zach, try a light leader, and if the bait runs to one side, as silly as this may sound, turn the leader clip over the other way.

I am sure Bill will answer this tomorrow; great baits, and a great guy building them![]

I have this same problem. I have one that i have tried everything. It always runs to the left even on an extremely slow speed. I've bent the hook eye as far over to the right i possibly can and still goes the the left. I've farted and around with leaders and no leaders at all. The only thing I can see is that the lip isn't square with the body. Which when I bought it i never looked at it. I'm kind of disapointed because the paint job looks more like a little musky than a little musky does, and I would like it to work so i can put some time in with this lure. It looks real good. If I was a musky i'd it eat it.

I HAD the same problem with the new red dragon ones I bought from bill. They all swam to one side but it took a fair bit of tuning to get them to run ok. But now they do and they get eaten! I had to bend one of the eyes for about 5mm to one side before it ran true. It takes a bit of your time but it's worth it! All the deep running ones I own run true straight out of the box!

what sworrall says about the leaders is true! A lighter 7-strand leader is better than a single strand one.

Some might need a little tunning. Keep working with the bait and if you still can't get it to run right please send it back and I'll replace it!
