| Me and a buddy are looking to spend a week on Lake Vermilion this summer. I have been looking at resorts and would just like a little input on which ones you muskie folks would recomend? Thanks. |

Location: algonquin Illinois | This is my 4th year going to Vermilion and we stay at Everett bay lodge. It's on the east side of the lake. Nothing fancy Just a nice family run Resort. It's in a shelterd bay if its rough on the main lake you can still fish a nice weed bed. The casino is across the bay if you want to try your luck. The owners Dave & Diane Gooden are nice folks. www.everettbaylodge.com |

Location: oswego, il | Good ones mentioned above. I take my family to Glenwood lodge on the northeast corner. The main reason is that I can fish the north side of pine which never gets rough. For my grandfather and my kids that is great. If I want to venture out into big bay, it's right there too. I also stayed at Life of Riley resort last year and they are very customer service oriented, with docks hands that will race to you like bluegills to a nightcrawler, to help with all your immediate needs. They have an excellent swim area and being back in norwegian bay are out of the rough as well. |

Location: Bemidji, Lake Vermilion | If you want to fish with probably one of if not the best muskie sticks on the West End look up Whispering Winds Resort on the web, check out the pics, Jeremy is his name and guide service comes free with stay there. Decks on many of the cabins reach out literally over the shore and you have water underneath them, docks are right there, boat is about 20ft from your cabin. Its a small, quiet place but very fishy, especially for the skies!! Can't beat the price or the service. |

Location: South Portsmouth, KY | Pike Bay Lodge is pretty nice. The only bad part is that your in the back of pike bay and its about a 6 mile boat ride to get out of the shallow water and into big bay. Nice cottages with a good price and its just a quick trip to tower or to the y convenience one stop shop store is

| I liked Spring Bay but didn't like the overloaded docks and the many stairs when I was there.
However, I did like the fact that they had someone down at the docks most of the day and evening and that can be a big help if you are fishing by yourself, and either need something or just need an extra pair of hands for a little. Service and accomodations were first rate.

Yeah, I knew about them, but they were never down there when I needed to carry crap up the hill. I rode later in the week one time, it was like pure luxury, after all those trips up and down the stairs lugging junk.

| I've only been to Everett Bay Lodge which we enjoyed.
If you have kids they will enjoy the pool.
Protected bay so your boats protected which is huge.
Dave is a musky guy so he'll mark your map up for you if you ask him for help. |

how many times have you been shot? Scars,.... I quite counting ages ago.
It really doesn't matter, but don't complain about a flippen HILL for God's sake, how can you judge a resort based on the " little hill" you have to walk up ?????
Cut me a break, Man !!
And overloaded docks............................ they have elect. within 20 ft of any of the 20 or so,of the boat docks there.... where are you coming from ?

Except for my stupid left hand that quit working when I got into a fight with a deer in December. I won, but at a cost.
FSF, meet Jerome. I think you two would get along famously in a boat, but that's just a guess. |

Now Steve, you just nominated another story for my visit this summer
Doug, why haven't I taken you up on the Spring Bay stay yet? |

| Steve, can you elaborate on the fight w/ the deer? You don't hear stories like this around the office too often. |

Jeremy Johnson (the guide) put me on the 50" fish that won the 2009 Lax Replica.

Location: oswego, il | I have yet to hear of any bad resorts on vermillion and I have stayed at 4 of them, Glenwood lodge, Forest lane, Trancheff's Cabins and Life of Riley. All great. I have no doubt the others mentioned are great as well. IMHO I would pick a resort based on preferences and needs. Clear vs stained, other species desired and needed amenities.
Now that i know spring bay has a golf cart so my grandfather can get to and from the dock, it's on my radar screen. |
