With the Suick, I vary it depending on what kind of structure I am around. Most of the time, it is a sweeping pull while I reel which gives the lure a small sway side to side. If I am in more weedy type of things, shorter jerks are used for more of a dive and rise sequence.
With the Weagle, I took a huge tip from Baldy last year at the MF outing on Vermilion. You can use small twitches to get the "walk the dog" cadence which is good, but what I have found is a twitch then right away a hard twitch to throw a bunch of water up and get a really loud swoosh. pause for a couple of moments, then a couple of twitches with a hard one worked in. No real cadence to it, and I try to make it more like a struggling fish. It is a bit more slow of a style, but it can bring fish up when a normal cadence does not.
