I am not too familiar with the launches on the fox. The spots I fish are usually only accessible by wading anyway.

Today I fished the fox for a couple hours a bit South of Elgin. I waded around for a bit in a spot that was new to me and threw a super shad rap and baby shallow raider. Came up on some deeper holes out of the current. Now that I know where they are next time Ill be able to cast into them without walking through them. The water is super clean and low. No action but it was good to get out and cast a bit.

anyone else been out?

I normaly fish south of elgin..fished a few weeks back(when there was a break from floating ice chunks)and did not see anything..ice chunks own the river right now from what I've seen..It'll be a few weeks till I'll be able to get out again..Last light is still key even in this time of year..keep close to the bottom with jigs and smaller swimbaits..but i still start with smaller twitchbaits for the active ones..if you get bit this time of year they'll be FAT and worth ur effort..good luck and let us know how u do!!

You guys ever do any good? I live in South Elgin and have caught only one small one in three years, but fish the river a lot. I know some pretty awesome looking spots but have yet to hook up with anything decent. If you want PM me off the board so we can talk.

I have never caught a musky from the fox. I will try for a few weeks in a row and end up just going for smallies. The bass can be so hot its hard to pass em up.

I haven't fished the fox for a couple of years, But always did good with the eye's and the smallies north of the riverboat in downtown elgin. Fish around the Island behind the post office, jig with minnow.

Has anyone had any luck? Spring break is next week so I'll be wading around everyday looking for a muskie!

Fox river..... not bad by yorkville, montgomery, and aurora dams. Got a sweet spot by silvers springs park where the creek dumps in to the river. Havent been up by Elgin yet.
