Does anybody know what a esox deck insert for a 2002 1700 osprey would weigh? I am curently making my own, and am wondering how much heavier it will be than a factory insert?

Finished the Insert. Built in stereo speakers, Lure Storage, and a pedestal mount. All for under 400$, including the Stereo.

Nicely done. I might have to steal that downspout idea.

Nice work. How much without the stereo and when can you have mine done? Got any vertical support on those middle sections or don't you think it will require it? Not sure what the material used to frame it up is, if it's steel probably not needed, eh? Great job

Nice job! Been planning a similar setup for my alumacraft tournament 185. Looks like you welded the frame with square tubing and angle iron? Steel or alum? Welder, gas or wire fed? Then used carpeted plywood for the top/hatches sides and front leaving the back and bottom open to save wieght I assume? What type of hinges? How heavy is it?

Question on the downspouts...

Have you taken it on the water yet full of lures? If so, does the metal on metal (lures/hooks on downspout) make a lot of noise? I'm going to be turning one of my compartments into a tackle box in a week or so and that thought just occurred to me for some reason.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but those look like PVC downspouts so noise should be minimal

It is Steel angle Iron on top, one inch tube supports. Welded, no gas, just a wire fed hobart. Etexed the ply-wood, then painted it.Back is open, top is 5/8s plywood, front and sides are 3/8s. PVC downspout, no noise at all. Here is a picture of my 350+ pound 6 foot 6 brother in law, testing it for strength. Not sure on the weight, but I can put in in and pull it out by myself. Steel was 70$, Stereo was about 130$, carpet and glues was about 25$, etex was 20$, latches were 15$, I salvaged most of the plywood from work. PVC Downspout was 42$. The miscellaneous is where it really adds up. I made numerous trips back and forth to Menards for, piano hinges, tools, screws, paint, nuts, bolts, paint etc. Lots of time in this build as well. My brother in law wired it all up, welded it all, I did most of the grunt work.

I think it looks great. One suggestion for you on the pvc down spouts to put a little finishing touch on it. That would be to use pvc primer and glue to hold them together instead of rachet straps. You may have aready done this and used the straps to hold it while the glue sets up but just a option. I have done it for pedastal base lure holders by taking 2" pve or ABS and glueing it together in a circlular pattern to fit around the post of the pedastal. Very inexpensive and with some spray paint can add alot of extra finish and use out of it. Good job on what you did. It is nice to have brother in-laws that help you out. But lets face it it is for their comfort also if they fish with you. Very nice job on this!

Yeah I glued them together, the ratchet straps were just to hold them together long enough to cure. Here they are full of lures. I was able to fit most of my regular sized lures in this system. I have a few extras that will be for sale shortly! I managed to fit most of a Lakewood monster, and a Flameau box (appprox. 130 Lures) all into this small space. Worked out great!!! And I still have 6 slots to buy more lures!!!!
