Location: Germany | Hello,
some days ago there exist a thread about the problems with the first series of the Tyrant. I can't find this thread now. Why?
It seems that many of the first/old production get broken. The new series of the Tyrant solve this problem with a stronger or durabler plastic. This was the answer from the manufactirer. So there is the problem how can I identify the new series? The old thread ask for this. Is there any way to differentiate the old from the new ones?

| yeah I think I started that thread...there was some good info in there, but I can't recall anyone answering my question about how to ID new-vs-old tyrants or bigfoots for that matter...hopefully someone else can help us out. |

Hope all is well!
I know any Tyrant you find at this time in a any retailers are the new ones. All of the older ones were pulled and destroyed months ago. I have a few of the new ones and had an old one. From what I could tell the older ones had a thinnner tail slot section and the new ones have a beefed up tail section so it will not fail. The new ones are rock solid IMO. I know they took care of any older ones for customers. Good customer service.
Hope that helps,
James |

Location: Green Bay, WI | Changes to the Tyrant are subtle and hard to identify just by looking at them. All of the original Tyrants were pulled from the stores and replaced with the new version. This version has a thicker more durable tail cavity . That said if you have any problems with a Tyrant product please email me at [email protected]

| I've heard a little dish washing soap may help putting a new tail into the groove. Although I haven't thrown my tyrant, I was curious about replacing the tail. Now, I would have never thought about doing that until after I fished it. But, the above comments made me curious.
Based on my experience, there shouldn't be any problem.
The replacement tail was a little tight, but fit nicely....snug is what I was hoping for.
Actually, I'm suppose to have one of the older styles and one of the new ones. I couldn't see any difference when placing a replacement tail in either body.
I assume most of the tyrants come with the tail already in the body. If the old style came with a tail already in the body, why would one be inserting the tail before ever using it?.....
Somehow, I find the above comments on the tails somwhat hard to believe. At least, my old hands managed to fit a replacement tail into the body just fine. I'm anxious to see how they work.
Oh, I too remember another topic concerning tyrants. I tried some searches, but couldn't locate the one I was thinking about. Perhaps, there is a problem with the search or data base. |

Hello James,
this are good news. I hope this is valid for the shops here in Europe too. Last week there was a Tyrant in the "bay". I think it was an old one because the lure on the photograph looks like after a repair with super glue at the tail section.
