| I have located a rock reef that tops out at the waters edge near the middle of the lower manitou. It does'nt have much an apron or shelf coming off of it, nor much of a ridge in any direction, but may be the size of a little league infield, the water around it drops to 15-30 , about 100 yards from this is another hump that comes up to 14 feet with deeper water (30-120 feet deep) on all sides , we chart baitfish all the time here but have not had any catches or follows, should we keep hitting this spot or is it too isolated from any other structure ??? It is at least 1/2 mile to a mile off shore . There are not any other reefs or islands around it. Should we keep hitting it ? Thanks ManitouDan |

| Seems to me many of the critical requirements are met in your description. An unpressured isolated peak/saddle with baitfish near deep water. I say keep the faith and keep hitting that spot with a variety of different techniques. Just my humble opinion. |

| Ranger is right....
Keep pounding it....its all in the "timing". Maybe this fall she will be stacked with big dogs crusing all over it.[;)] |

| I agree with what has been said already. Alot of times, despite not seeing fish on a particular piece of structure doesn't mean a fish don't utilize the spot. Many times these little peculiar spots are just the ones to hold the big tankers and it's usually under certain circumstances that they appear. Keep hitting the spot at different times of the day to see when a feeding time may be occurring on your underwater, little island. I know that at certain times of the year little structures will hold some good fish on them while at other times you can't even buy a looker. Also don't neglect the open water that may surround the hump because a ski or two may be holding in the never-never land. Some of our best suspendo fishing spots is relating to some type of structure, but holding a ways off it.
catch ya later,

| Dan,
Keep on fishing that spot until the lake freezes over! I agree with everything that has been said, response wise. Where you have found baitfish near structure, you will have predators who want to eat the baitfish. Remember to work the reef on the edges as well as right on top of it.
Good luck! |

| Dan,
I know the place! I have tried that particular reef three times. Never saw a fish yet. I saw some fish about 1 3/4 miles to the north east at the next big main lake reef complex.
The reef farther south at the mouth of the narrows south of your reef is a very good spot, but I think you may already know about this one.

| Jeff- leaving to back to camp tommorrow for a week , if you are available to come and see us , we have plenty of room at the inn. We have fished that spot several times also with no lookers or takers, sure looks like big fish spot. We had our little "tourney" 2 weeks ago . Fishing was really good. First time I remember seeing the manitou with a tint to some of the water. all the runoff from feeder lakes gave it a hint of tea stain. Hope you are catching a bunch , If you lost my email it's [email protected] . If you can make it , we would love to have you. ManitouDan at Camp Beaverhead. |

| Dan,
I can not come up for the next week. I will be up at Kenora fishing for the week. We shall try for the next trip maybe.
The fishing has been extra good this year. I think you may enjoy your best trip ever this summer. I have not made it up as far as your lodge this year as there has not been a reason, the fish are active not far from the landing. I like that!
Good Luck and slay them.

| And the GPS Coordinates Are?
Like some of the others have said keep checking it may all be in timing, do not forget to check the area between the humps for suspenders

| It sound's like it could be a real sleeper spot come fall.
Keep hitting it over the summer and don't forget about it this fall! |

I know the spot you are talking about also. We fished it a couple of times last week and did not see anything. We also trolled along the edge and between the reefs but only caught pike.
