Will the revo toro 60 w/ 5.4.to 1 handle limited DCG use? Or would the winch w/ 4.6. to 1 be better suited? Don't plan on throwing them all the time. Thanks

IMHO the Winch would be a better option if you plan on real heavy duty DC10 use but the 5.4 will work just fine for you for limited use.

I would like a reel to do it all and think the revo toro 60 might fit the bill. Thanks

I use my 5:3 as a blade reel, won't burn them but works well for a steady retrieve.

This subject piques my interest as well. I remember quite clearly the guy at the Sportsman's Repair up in Mosinee telling me exactly why my 6500-C5 with the 6.3 gears burned out so quickly.

"People use this reel wrong. These high gear ratios are for taking up slack in line, not for retrieving line under the load of a hard pulling bait." Never will forget that.

I burned mine up in about 4 honest days of fishing. And that was before the "advent" of doubles. Obviously that reel and the Revo line are completely different, that and seven years have gone by since I stood by his counter while he fixed my reel, so that's seven years of R&D on reels since then, but I would think the principle of it is the same.

But then, you hear about folks using the Trinidad for burning double 10s. Again, this reel is probably built for it, but I just wonder in a head to head, all things being equal comparison test, would the Revo Toro 60 hold up as long as the Revo Winch?

I love the 5.4:1 for double tens for everything but burning them. Plus if you are only gonna use it for limited use, the winch isnt as versatile as the regular Toro. Buy one and you wont look back!

my toro did just fine all last season with blades and STILL feels like butter, smooth and ready for another season of abuse.
