| How do the big swimbaits (like the muskie inovations bulldawgs or the tackle industries Super D) hold up to catching alot of pike? There are no muskies here. I have some of the super d's I bought last year but never got a chance to use them. Are some of these baits better then the others? |

Location: Grand Rapids MN | They hold up just fine... I catch all sizes of pike on these lures but one thing to remember is to not lift them to the point where they thrash a lot at the surface. That's seems to be when the most damage can occur. |

Location: Land of the Musky | Customer record for my SuperDs is 21 fish boated. Only reason he stopped using that SuperD was fish #21 was his PB musky. As for durability between the SuperD and a Bulldawg I think the new Bulldawgs are now using the coil harness I came out with 2 years ago and they should be about equal in durability. My new harness has that "nub" at the end removed that was causing a few tail failures and I know the Bulldawg had the same "nub". Not sure if the new Bulldawgs have that "nub" removed or not on their 2010 harnesses. For plastisol, I have a few of the new Dawgs and the plastisol stiffness seems to be comparable to the new BASF plastisol I am using. For price, my SuperDs are priced about $4 less per lure on average but it you really want a Bulldawg you can shop around and find them at near comparable prices. Musky Tackle Online has great prices on both my SuperDs and the new Bulldawgs. Well, that is about as good as I can do for comparison since I am of course biased toward the unbeatable SuperD

PS-If you want a really good swimbait also try a Shack Attack. Andy makes/touches every bait with his own hands and really has some spectacular colors that neither the Bulldawg or the SuperD come in. Good all around Made in the USA bait IMO plus he is a great guy to buy from. My tackle box has about as many Shack Attack swimbaits as it does SuperD right now. |

| I use the SuperD regular for Pikes, and on one particular lake, It is superior to all other baits I have tried. From 10 feets of water and deeper, I fish it, with jerk and slip movements. I have caught on several colours, But my favourites are naturally coloured, like brown and black wallye, perch, and black and orange.
Swimbaits are awesome Pike bait! |
